Hi everyone
There is something strangely satisfying about sitting in the sun crocheting a nice warm winter blanket
Have a lovely day everyone

Oh good God. I've just ordered a full tank of LPG.........I need to sit down.
I hope its not gonna be a freezing winter so this can last me a heck of a long time.
£559.00 for a 1400lt tank :eek:0 -
I was sitting down last night re-jigging money about and sorting out my Christmas list ... needless to say I decided to sort my winter list out too. Whilst it isn't complete I have definitely made a start.
My winter clothes haven't been stored away other than under the bed for the time being - and we've been wearing the jumpers still up until the recent hot spell
I managed to pick up DD up lots of thick woollen jumpers in Spring that have been stored away. I just need to check how many gloves, hats, scarves and coats she has.
Me and hubby both need gloves, hats and scarves as well as a nice thick coat.
Car box
Candles (in case of power cuts  - also some way of protecting the flame from my little girl or visa versa)
Snow Shovel (The price rockets once the snow hits)
Additional blankets - I might be able to make my own as I have taken up sewing
Kitchen / Storecupboard supplies - I have a gas cooker which I can cook on.
Dog food and bottled water
Sounds like a really daft thought but I need to make sure my heating works if the electric goes off.
Luckily got loads of grit left from last year although the shed needs a good sort through as I am hoping for a second freezer.
The woollen gloves sounds fantastic - might have to see if I can get some of those

If some of you are after some hoodies for your kids, Asda have a selection on sale. I've just bought one for DS and zipped up fleecy lines jackets for the girls for £4.00 each.0

I would love to join you all.
I have recently moved into a bungalow, theres just the OH and I.
So now I need to start preparing for winter.
We noticed the gutters needs cleaning out, but with health problems we couldnt do it. So a friends son came over and did it for us, and what a good job he did to they were full of rubbish and leaves. So thats the first off the list. I am looking in CS for heavy curtains to put up across doors.
I am going to read this thread from the begining and make a list of what we need to do .
Be back later

I went on a trip yesterday I whilst waiting for the others to arrive I saw lots of wood (bits of branches etc) on the floor. Went to the car, got a bag & filled up 2! Others in the gang were embarrassed to say the least but from now on, no piece of wood stays on the floor! Its way to expensive to buy!
Can't wait for my tree man to come chop up an old tree we have. I'm hoping to get about 2 tonnes of wood from it which I'll store temporarily in those tonne builders bags I have.0 -
Added to my shopping list extra toilet rolls, powdered milk and bread flour invade of bad weather and shop emptying of essentials.
Also going to get snacks for the car box.
I collect sticks too but mine are for cooking outdoors should the power go off. If I can heat a tin of beans and boil some water for tea we'll survive0 -
I also have a winter store cupboard. UHT milk, jars, few boxes of cereals, tinned fruit etc. I live in rural Wales & if I'm snowbound, the nearest shop is 2 miles down the road to the next village. Which is a lovely walk down but back up the hill in the snow? Another story! We were snowed-in in January due to the awful drifts - 3 days. I loved it & I was thankful for the store cupboard.
I also have 3 freezers so in 1 have meat e.g. diced beef, whole chickens, pork chops. Nothing more I love in winter than lobscouse with lashings of bread & butter!0
