has anyone seen inexpensive fleeces on sale online recently? i still need 2 for the kitchen curtains, i have a few leopard print ones i could use in a pinch but that paired with turquoise drapes would look a tad odd, and the kitchen faces the high street :rotfl:
also my daughter is moggy mad so i think she'd prefer to keep those for herself, she's already irritated that i used an even nicer set to line the black curtains that used to be in my bedroom (now for the living room) didn't feel bad about that as it's lounge drapes and the spots match the black plus it backs onto something akin to a bombsite so no one to complain anyway
i've looked at prices of fleece fabric to buy from ebay but it seems cheaper to just buy the actual blankets, one standard size thinner fleece blanket is needed per curtain so i'd need two for the kitchen, any help appreciated...needs to be online too, we don't have an argos here, nowhere near an ikea and only supermarket is morrisons and it's a tiny one0 -
CONFUZZLED I don't know if they have them in at present but if you have a branch of 'The Works' anywhere within reach I got some super little fleece throws from them last autumn for £3.99 each. Worth a look and maybe ask if they're not in yet whether they will be later? Cheers Lyn xxx.0

confuzzled ikea £3 each and they even do turquoise, they also have white which you might prefer and other colours. I have them as interlinings, backing and just separate curtains. They are toasty warm and they wash really well too

They have a cheaper one in grey and white this year, last few years it's been blue. £1.60 It's 10cm shorter than the ones above.

They also have some for under £5 at Tesc0 online. Their colours are a little different--they have a chocolate brown and a red. Additionally, I think you can do click and collect for free if you don't have an ike@ near you, as ike@ doesn't deliver the blankets. hth.0

Hello everyone, first post on this thread.
Wilkinsons have some fleece blankets in stock, £3.99 And the are online as well for delivery.
Also noticed a clothes airer holds upto 20kg reduced to £10.00, perfect for this summer weather!! (rained all day & freezing)
Hope this helps someone0 -
I was just wondering what people used to stuff their draft dodgers/door snakes? I have some really cute knee socks that have holes in them that probably won't last long even if I darn them, so I was hoping to give them a new life and block some of the drafts on our front door. It has a door curtain, but I think a door snake will help. Any thoughts on a good and free or cheap material to stuff them with?0

Thanks to everyone for the fleece suggestions, i may take my daughter out to ikea when we go for our free sunday movie in edinburgh (the deal that was on the grabbit board from m&m's and all that) as we'll have to get the plus bus with our train tickets to get out to the cineworld for the movie anyway. she adores ikea meatballs so that might possibly be an option if i can't get them anywhere else cheaper with postage and such like.
i'm so fortunate in this new flat, i was worried because we dont' have a back garden however i managed to set up a great drying system and i never have to worry about rain.
the flat is on the first floor and we have an inner staircase up to the attic conversion where the bedrooms are. the bedrooms each have the sloped ceilings in part of the room and have huge dormer windows that open fully inward, with one room on either side of the building we get excellent airflow between the rooms so i put the airer up in the front bedroom because it's sunniest for longest and use a combination of the airer and those peg carousels for drying the clothes.
on a windy day i can have one load of laundry nearly dry before the next load is ready to go on so i just shift things that aren't quite dry to the peg carousel or hang them over a chair or door etc and hang the next load on the airer, it's brilliant!
once it's too cold to open the windows all the way it'll take a little longer to dry but it's so quick anyway it shouldn't be too bad over autumn in those awkward months. once winter comes i have a slew of radiators that i need to get some airers for.
when i bought my washing machine for this flat i made sure to get one with a 1500rpm spin and i cannot tell you what a huge difference this makes. some clothes are nearly dry when they come out, like fleece etc, it's fantastic and works very well with my little system :T0 -

i've used old knickers, socks, clothes etc some people use bubblewrap, i have some pieces of memory foam left over that i might use if i need to make one for my front door (i'm waiting to see if it's needed or not)
when we moved here this place was unfurnished, i had already bought myself a memory foam mattress (shoved the horrid landlord mattess under my daughters bedframe lol) but my daughter needed a mattess too, she'd had my old memory foam topper on her bed at the old place but obviously this was redundant with a proper mattress for her. so i cut that up into pieces to make a large thick pillow to sit on at my computer chair as i have hip and pelvic issues from sitting too long and i work from home.
i also have used part of it formed into wedge shapes and taped to add support in bed, and made some roll pillows out of it (taped again) and shoved into a pillow case. to make things fit we just tore off bits til it was right as cutting it is challenging. so we have a load of tiny pieces left. my daughter is using some for some soft toys she's making and i still have some left hehe so i think that's def going in any draught excluders i make.
if you had any pillow foam or even old pillows left that could be rolled up and crammed in those could work too.0 -

(From Mae Stewart's book 'Dae Yeh Mind Thon Time?')0 -
All great suggestions, thank you! I think last time I used paper that was destined for the recycling, but it didn't give the nicest look.0
