Nothing like TrueCrypt. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better, free one.
Did it have to be a pm? Can you share it with us? G
He sent it as a PM as he's trying to make some money by selling me the activation key for some particular software! Very cheeky!
Perhaps we should re-name this site, MoneyMakingExpert?!:D0 -

Please refrain from requesting the exchange of personal details either on the forum, via PM or email; particularly for the purposes of selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts. This includes posting links to your ebay auctions, or other forms of advertising.
If someone appears to be selling items on the board it may be deleted by the board guides/forum team. The aim is to protect site users as however honourable the intention, your safety is paramount.
For all you know it's probably an illegal/cracked activation code too. Good thing you're savvy enough to know better. G0 -

I would second GoofyGAT's recommendation for TrueCrypt. I was looking for something to protect personal information (finance, letters, scanned statements and the like) on a laptop and in back-ups.
TrueCrypt is ideal, it's easy to set up and, from all the searching I've done on reviews, appears to be very secure and more than adequate for the purpose.
I now have a TrueCrypt volume on my laptop and can even carry a copy with me on a memory stick for access at work without fear of someone having all my information if either get lost or nicked.
It's even better that it's free :T0
