is it worth having sub sections for FB only stuff, etc?

ALL opinions are valid. Learning comes from debating those opinions, preferably in a friendly way.
I don't think the issue is about whether FB, etc are good or bad for comping. It's more about how much we want the board divided. Personally, I prefer to have one place to find everything, but I quite like the sound of what Marg was suggesting - as far as I understood it. My twitter knowledge pretty much begins and ends with retweeting for comps
Is it worth considering a thread or sticky for 'urgent' comps? I dunno exactly what, but perhaps where all the comps still get posted on the main board, but when it's something ending soon, or close to reaching the required number, people could bump this on a separate sticky, to save keep bumping on the main board. Can't count all the times I've missed out on a comp because well meaning souls bump to say - quick, it's nearly reached the required number.
BTW, no offence Timmmers, but all these prizes you win from comps that aren't posted here...how can I put this tactfully...have you considered perhaps posting them here?I am brave, I am bruised

Suggestion: a Social Media entry section, an Email entry section, and an Everything Else section
?
Personally I'd like to see a Log In/Register entry section as I have never registered with a site but a lot of people seem to post comps and not realise they are log in/reg comps so I doubt this would work ...0 -

He and his 1700 FB friends wanted to keep it between themselves.
So far this year FB has provided me with 2 iPads, a 50 inch telly, a 5k diamond, an ultrabook, a 500 quid light shade and stuff like that.....and it's caused me no problems at all. None of those comps came from MSE because MSE doesn't do it well enough ATM.
MSE doesn't do it well? What exactly is it?0 -

I agree. I think this would be a good idea. Although tbh the main thing I would like separated or possibly a sticky thread is email comps just because you can log in and do all at once!0 -
I remember back when 'twitter' and 'facebook' and 'blog' were not added to titles of competitions on the board. I am very greatful for the titles as I always skip 'photo effort' -
Some people will miss out on twitter contests and facebook ones due to the nature of them, being fast ending etc. So I often search titles for them.
I do adore the postal/text sticky, and use it as often as I can.
Im suggesting (possibly??) we could get a sticky for fast ending comps, with less than 24 hours on them.
That could be anything that is fast ending, blogs, email etc.. flash type comps that can operate in the same way as the postal/text thread, one off types which usually end the same day as they are hosted.
EDIT - Such as this one I posted today, launched around midday, finishes 10pm for an Ipad on twitter

Some contests on facebook and twitter last much longer than 24 hours, so it would be silly to pop them all into a single thread or subsection, the more competitions that are on the main board the better I feel. - I personally do not want MSE split into massive sections.Wishing you all good luck!

I have never seen a short comp ever, but I wouldn't know where to look as I dont 'get' Twitter, I just use it to re-tweet comp posts. With FB I dont really look at it, again I just go into the comps I see on here and enter via an app. I dont tend to do like and share comps any more as I dont trust that I would see that Ive won (if I did of course) and miss the quick ending comps so maybe a sticky that had less than 24 hours to a full comp would be a good idea.
Ive decided that I should look at profiles rather than my wall then. Im friends with Tim on FB so now I know who to look at :rotfl:Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday

We did have a Twitter competitions ending today post back in January, unfortunately it was closed after 4 hours as it apparently wasn't wanted by the masses.

Personally I think it's a great idea, would much rather do all my Twitter in one go, then all FB ones etc rather than switching back and forth.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

would be interesting if someone were to do a poll &
see how many would/wouldn't want it nowplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
If people want to make it easier to access certain comps, Twitter, FB, those ending within 24 hours, or anything else, then I don't see a problem with having as many stickies as wanted. So having stickies linking to Fb comps on the main board, e.g. might be helpful to some. Not a problem to have a whole page of them if they're helpful, because people will only use the ones they want.
However, if the reason is to separate some comps from the main board, I would not be in favour of that at all. Everyone has their own comping system. By dividing the board into sections, it will be helpful for a few and a pain to everyone else. Those who do all types of comps will end up having to trawl through lots of boards. It will feel never ending.
It's a shame we can't include a search system like eBay where you can search to exclude keywords as well as to find them. That way everyone could easily choose which comp types to exlude.I am brave, I am bruised

It was a fairly decent idea, some of them end within hours.
Ofcourse you need contributers, if no one posts flash contests then thats a bit of tough luck.
I dont want any changes, it was just a suggestion should people want it.Happy comping.
Wishing you all good luck!
