After 12 years with virgin and in the last year I have had nothing but problems, no broadband no tv , engineers out, countless calls saying I just want decent tv and broadband I decided enough was enough, so I called last week to say this, the lady said she would sort it properly for me, I believed her and decided on adding the movie and sport package with no contract, she said I needed a phone line but I said I don't need one but to have movies ect it would be put in, ok then, anyway, after 4 days of it being installed, ( engineer didn't even tell me the phones number ) the whole lot has packed up again, no tv no broadband so I called to say I am moving on and no longer required virgins services, the man then told me I would have to pay a disconnection fee of £180 ! For what I asked, for the phone line he replied, I said i didnt even want it, never wanted it and it doesn't even work . Nothing I can do he said, can I speak to a manager about this please, nothing they can do either, well can I just speak to one please myself ? No, there is no one here in management, well I don't want to pay it, it's not fair, sorry sir nothing I can do, is there anything else I cam help you with ? I would like to k ow where I stand on this charge, I haven't signed anything, didn't ask for a phone line and have never had or wanted one, advice please.

You are in contract whether you signed anything or not-so you need to get them to fix the services that you are contracted to.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Adding Sky Sports/Movies on VM does not require a new contract, its a minimum 30 days then you can remove it again, unless its part of a Collection. It sounds like you may have been missold the phone line however.
(On a side note, I wish people would refrain with posting advice unless they actually know its correct, its horribly misleading and not fair on the people who just genuinely need a bit of guidance).0 -
i think you ned to ring disconnections again, i got the £180 rubbish the other week off a guy who just would not listen.
Rang last week as i get 1mb max if anything from 4pm to 10pm. sometimes i just get an egg timer.
enough was enough i called again and spoke to a great guy ( if you want his name pm me)
He apologized for his colleagues ineptness and accepted my dissconecction and even mmade a goodwill gesture of my final month free.
feel as though virgin have now done the decent thing and accepted they are 150% over subscribed in my area0 -

But I stand by my original advice for the OP to demand a restoration of services rather than try to use the loss as an excuse to cancel.0 -

Competent service engineer should be able to fix this,in my experience OP's issues are it's all three services are not working it sounds like the drop cable is damaged & needs repulling.0 -
IF you take TV, you are charged for a phone line whether you need/want it or not - and this has always been the case, even in the pre Virgin days of NTL/Cabletel. By adding telephony, this generates the 12month minimum service requirement, which is why the term is being demanded - this would have been explained to you in the follow up letter explaining what they will be propviding and when your service will be provided.
Pulling out is NOT the money-saving way, you get them to fix the problem(s) and see out your term, otherwise, you are paying dearly for services you've not had the benefit of.0
