Going to Dublin- any recommendations?

Hello,

I am off to Dublin and staying in the temple bar area.

Has anyone got any ideas of things we must do? also nice bars/restaurants and a good club?

What about attractions during the day?

Weve been about a decade ago so Im thinking things could have changed by now.

Thanks,

The biggest thing that has changed are the prices. If you are planning on going out for a drink then take lots of money.
  • I've always enjoyed the bus tours and with your ticket you get discounts into various attractions including the Guinness Brewery and (I think) the Jameson Distillery.

Me and My OH went last year, Theres a restaurant called Frankies which was very nice.

Also use the tram thing to get around, very convenient and cheap!

Dublin Zoo is worth a visit, Thoroughly enjoyed it! Also if your up for a bit of agiigle, or if you are taking kids with you, there is a leprachaun museum near there which wasn't very expensive to get into.

Price wise, Eating I didn't find any different to England, drinks were a bit dearer, but we didn't really go for massive nightly so didn't affect us to much in that way,
  • Kilmainham Gaol is excellent and well worth a trip.

The Guinness Storehouse is alright but I prefrerred the Jameson's Distillery.

Temple bar is v expensive & you find hargly any locals, we went to POD nightclub live music etc really good away from templebar but great and they don't rob you for drinks.

  • Been a coule of times but not for about 8 years now. Oddly, we are going for the wife's birthday for a day and night on Saturday. Clubbing is a bit beyond us these days lol, so cant offer much advice in that regard.

Guinness Storehouse was one of the best value attractions in the city from memory, may do it again but I notice someone said above they thought the Jamieson attraction was better? May do that instead as a whole days shopping will do my nut in, so need to do something else. I guess I could just plonk myself in a bar and

Not a cheap place to visit if you like a drink.

I like the city though. I have Irish ancestors, despite the Irish being very watered down in me, the previous visits we've made we're great and in a strange way, it felt like 'home' to me.
  • Copper Face Jacks is a great club full of locals. Theres quite a few good bars around it also with live music and such.

Temple Bar is very expensive. I quite liked the Porterhouse pub though.

Go to the Zoo, its brilliant.

Always have the right change when you use the buses, no change is given.

Take lots and lots of money

Have a good time, it's brilliant.

Ignore the beggars, they are in disguise and loaded.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Go to the Museums and Art Gallery - free to get in and really interesting places to visit.

For food, try Luigi Malone's - it's really good!

  • Temple Bar is very expensive, but plenty of nice bars and restaurants. I went to a Mexican/Italian restaurant a couple of years ago - sounds strange but was great! Dublin Zoo is brilliant and we really enjoyed the Guiness Factory.
