Would YOU buy a bathroom suite online ?

We have recently moved and wish to change the existing bathroom suite (peach colour) to a simple white suite.

We don't want anything fancy, just a functional suite.

My wife thinks we should buy online, but I'm not too sure. It's OK buying a jersey, or maybe a radio, but a bathroom suite is pretty big, if anything goes wrong.

I think I would prefer to pop to y local B&Q, Wickes or Bath Store.

What do readers think ?

The 'Mrs' has been looking at the Victorian Plumbing web site.

thanks

I've always bought the cheapo deals from B&Q, can be there and back within an hour.

Last one was about £180, and included really nice shaped bath and basin, a "bog-in-a-box", wastes, bath panel, etc and taps. (admittedly 7 years ago)

Was going to bling it up a bit with better quality taps but decided against it as the taps supplied weren't that bad (tight Yorkshire-man syndrome).

I always think it's what you do to finish the room, tiling, decor etc that makes a real difference.
I'd worry a bit about who was delivering, not much faith in some of the delivery companys getting a bath here in one piece. Of course if the company you're buying from deliver it themselves, it's less of a problem.

I have done, but only after doing my research.

i.e taken a day & going round all the bathroom shops, seeing what we liked, then checking the price online.

I doubt I would buy completely blind unless it was a well known brand & I was buying from a well known shop with a good returns policy
  • go to a local independant same money better quality

Buy with a credit card, it offers some protection and if you do buy online, check the items as soon as yu get them, thoroughly for dents and scratches.

Its amazing how many people come on here and buy the suite but not have it fitted for a month and then find faults when it is ready to be fitted.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I would buy one online, but only one that I'd seen in the flesh in a shop first.

There is such a massive variation in quality/feel, not necessarily reflected in the price, that you simply can't tell what you're getting online.

We found City Plumbing the best - not all their branches have bathroom showrooms so you need to check first - but our local branch had a huge number of suites on display from all different manufacturers.
  • I purchased from a local independent complete bathroom including side panel and taps ,waste fittings etc, i checked Homebase they wanted nearly the same just for taps.

To all those who buy online only after seeing them in a shop...

If everyone does that there will soon be no shops to see them in.

Lots of shops have a web presence even if they have a physical shop.

It's helps them minimise retail space.

However with bathroom and kitchens you really need to see items in real life.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
