Dealer registered New Car "Early" what can I do?

It should state on the vehicle order form the agreed delivery date which should also be the registration date. What does it say? Have you contact Citroen customer service about this?PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

Thank you for the advice. I have got the order form out and my private plate number is on it but no registration date - the space was left blank. The finance contract starts from 1 September, my deposit was dated 1 September (62 plate) but our copy of the "Confirmation of Registration Details" (which is not signed) says 31 August: 12 plate.
The salesman said there was a genuine mistake & the dealership is at fault but has since changed his tune. I am about to write to the MD of the dealership & then Citroen. I have been calling, going into the showroom and chasing this for a month now!0 -
So you signed for and collected the car at the end of August and didn't think to mention this?
The fact you have a private plate on it would make it easy for the dealer to swindle you this way.
However the Date of Reg confuses me?
Wonder if it was a NI car that was already reg'd in August, but when they re-registered it with your plates they did it to show the DOR as 1st September.
Get the chassis number and contact the DVLA at Coleraine to see if it shows on the NI database..0 -

I doubt if this could of been a genuine mistake. The dealerships I used to work in hardly registered any vehicles in the days leading up to a new registration year start date. Registering a car with a out going year prefix would stick out like a sore thumb.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. I would say the dealer has known full well what he's doing and he's targeted you for this swindle due to your private plate.
Moral of the story, don't trust Citroen dealers and don't have private plates!
If I were you I'd complain as much as possible. Rejecting the car isn't going to happen so try and get a free service plan or something in addition to the £300. Bunch of con artists!0 -
If you're using a private plate the -62- reg won't really matter during the period that you own it and use the private plate (makes me wonder why you didn't go for a pre-registered car in the first place).
I'd push as hard as possible on the current offer of £300 to address the issue of the resale value when the time comes. If they've admitted a mistake, they can hardly go back on that now.0 -
Yeah just got 3 years service off them, it'll cost them nothing in terms of cost but will save you another £400 or so. Plus try and up the cash they have already offered you.
They knew full well what they were doing on this0 -

It may have been released by the dealer but shouldn't have been on the road.
LG62 ***, although it's had a private plate on it since September 3rd. (I've got the LG62 plates in the boot)

I would agree with the others here, the garage knew exactly what they were doing and £300 is a paltry offer but you will need proof to take it much further.
Could probably class this as fraud?0 -
