Today will have to be a spendy day as the rabbit is looking mournfully at me as though he knows the last of the bag of food is in his bowl! I also need some more sawdust and might even by him a more exciting treat so he can celebrate my newly acquired job with me. Drinks may also have to be bought tonight to celebrate (though I'm hoping someone else might pay!) Happy Monday all! TTFN
Congratulations on the new job :T, hope bunny likes his treats too.
Thank you everyone who has offered your kind and level headed advise about the iPad I am planning to buy my DM.
BMF - thank you too for your comment about my mum's 'forgetfulness'. It's a bit of a combination of being preoccupied, and not always listening 100% in the first place, or at least taking it in. We're polar opposites in that respect, whereas I'll take time to read the instructions of a piece of flat packed furniture, and check I've got all the pieces before starting, she finds that totally boring, hates reading and following instructions and would much rather be shown what to do - or better still, have someone else do it for her. Of course we all have our strengths and things we're not so good at - unfortunately mine is that I don't have a great deal of patience showing people how to do stuff. I don't mind once, twice to go over a few points butmore than that and it's drives me potty. I'd make a rubbish teacher.
Well positive's of today, NSD # 2 bagged (at last!), braised oxtail I cooked last night - yummy! (Nargle I decided to leave out the fusty toadstools Igor suggested I add).
Not so positives, I have a bad throat and feel it might be a cold coming on, got home from work to find boiler on the blink so no hot water or heatingFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

(oooh naughty naughty Nargle! Igor! Get the whips and chains out again! It's that moon phase thing again and I feel a transition coming on...))
Well the crowbar was for prising out skirting boards & doors.... I can think of a certain someone i would like to use it on sideways (& backwards, forwards & upside down to be fair), but i think maybe we should just stick to the soggy brush for the F word for now!! :rotfl::rotfl:Sometimes I curse the lack of emotion that can be conveyed in the written word. I hadn't thought about it before I had an unfortunate run-in with a close friend..I'd written a note & read it half a dozen times or so before sending it on, but my words had been interpreted in the polar opposite of my intention & caused a lot of upset til I was able to read it out loud, expressing the feelings the way I intended. It just hadn't occured to either of us, that the exact same squiggles on a page could infer such directly opposed emotion
I do so hope that folk--particularly on here--know that I do not set out to cause offence. I re-read my post to BDINI & suddenly thought it could come across as a bit..bolshy..That wasn't the look I was going for, so apologies if I've stuffed up again. Where's a wordsmith version of gok when you need wan
Back to nsd nabbing & I can report No 5 is in the compound & ready for fatigues
BMF - your post came across to me exactly as it was meant, so please don't worry!!
I know i can be a bit of a worrywart & sometimes i need plain speaking, so it really does help!!
Personally i always think about the person more than the words, if i know they are a kindly soul who wants to help, i will always read the words like that, but i do know what you mean about how easily they can be misinterpreted,February NSD challenge 5/150 -
Evening all,
NSDs 5,6 and 7 in the bag.
Bagged loads of bargains at Morissons and Waitrose so not only was the shopping under budget for the week, but also managed to get 3 weeks worth shopping (except for fresh veg), but plenty left in the jar for them:D
Just a shame I can't do the same with liquid gold for the car:mad:
Work prospects looking up - although current contract is going to be reduced I'm meeting with someone who should be able to push plenty of work my way later this month so fingers crossed."Whether you think you can, or you think you can't -- you're right" - Henry Ford0 -
Chocolate is very nice from Thornton's, dark chocolate with berries and two squares a day boosts you & makes you feel great.~honest :roftl: Its got acticia in it.
Mmmm, sounds really yummy Beanie!!rising_from_the_ashes wrote: »:rotfl::rotfl:not really a chocolate person (I know- still have some left from last C:o) unless it's in a cake but a wee spoonful of golden syrup ..... yum! (I did treat myself last night - & may just go for one right now;) as I'm not getting a lot of calories just now):j
Nargleblast wrote: »With me it's peanut butter, straight from the jar on a spoon...luvverly!
Is it wrong to admit that my favourite treat is melted peanut butter, chocolate & golden syrup mixed with cornflakes & set in the fridge (oh & sometimes i throw in stale marshmallows if i have any knocking around!), seriously greedy, but also seriously yummy!!
Great news on the job giggles!!
Oh & number 5 for me today, long hard day at work, so gave up the monday night drinks in favour of the dregs of the red wine on the sofa. Feel a bit guilty that i let my old men down, but i do think they understand (well i hope so anyway!!)February NSD challenge 5/150 -
Oh & sorry, meant to just add my twopennorth to the Ipad debate... I'd ask myself this question Kerri which one would your mum buy of you were helping her choose?
If this is the 2, then i wouldn't feel guilty at all for going for this one...February NSD challenge 5/150 -
I did it!!!!! I got NSD no 2 :j
Woohoooooooooooo
Not a penny spent again today AT ALL... and I managed to walk past a cafe which just opened today, twice, and resisted!!!
Thanks all for keeping me motivatedWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Nargleblast wrote: »Easy chocolate cheesecake recipe courtesy of The Takeaway Secret - make base with crushed digestive biscuits and butter. Mix Nutella and plain soft cheese together (roughly half and half, but taste and adjust quantities to suit). Spread on top of base. Shove in fridge for a few hours to set.
Really scrumptious!
Nigella Lawson did this the other night on her new show - what a cheek, perhaps she's got a copy of the Takeaway Secret!
Did my shopping for 80€, which will keep us going for a while and also got rubbish and compost stickers (we have to pay for each bag they take) and mulitivutamins. So quite a spendy day but should be sorted for a while now.Trying to keep in budget.

Wow,there's lots of new faces.Hi to all newbies  and welcome to the wonderful nsd challenge. As long as you remember to praise Igor's cooking (he's highly strung) and forgive Hubert for any little puddles he makes in the corner of your sitting room, then things should go swimmingly.:D
