I'm only a small private seller but I ship abroad and never had any problems. I also don't use any tracking, only ever tracked 1 item and that was a piece of jewellery that went for £50 to France. everything else I just get a certificate of posting for and in my 10 years on ebay I have never (touch wood) had an item I've sold go missing.

Im just saying as worst case can happen. A man was arrested in England recently after a buyer claimed he didn't post the item. The buyer refused to pay for recorded and turned down refund requests. Police then knocked on the sellers door, eventually the item did turn up. This is just another case of how bad ebay is getting.

I cannot see any connection between that story and this thread?

It is not eBay that state a buyer is entitled to get what they pay for, it is UK law. We do seem to be getting many more posts just recently where it supposes eBay is responsible for all manner of things up to and including Paliamentary laws and statutes. Believe me, if I don't get an item I paid for I will complain and reclaim my money, whether that site be eBay, Amazon or any other retail shop.

    This is the story to which you refer;

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2219065/eBay-Student-quizzed-8-hours-charged-fraud-headphones-sold-got-lost-post.html

Which part exactly shows that eBay is getting worse?

Can I ask why Italy is considered a no go when it comes to posting Ebay items?

    Cheers, Birdy

Italy is blocked for me too on my business and private acc
From experience over the years-italian customers ask way too many questions, demand cheaper postage even though you have given them the cheapest quote! and the main reason is stuff either doesn't get there at all or turns up weeks later.
I think i read once that the postal service is a bit dodgy there.
Since i blocked italy ebay has been less stressfull.

(no offence to any italians intended :D)

You, cannot see a connection? Well, the OP pm'ed me prior to starting this thread asking for my non-rose tinted ebay glass advice. Also, my story I spoke of was about fraud, this post is about countries not to post to because of being ripped off ie, fraud... them two answers make a pretty good connection. I am not here to start an argument. I am here to give alternative advice other than eBay is amazing, everything s great bla bla. Its not...

I did not say the story is saying eBay is getting worse. I do not need a story to tell me it is getting worse. I am a member of many forums out there and many surrounding eBay horror shows and believe me, its bad.

If you want I can create a post regarding this but I doubt it will happen on the eBay love forum

eBay and PP treat you guilty until proven innocent which, you arent given the chance to be. For example, 4 VERO warnings and you are banned. VERO you ask? Thats all fake goods and the likes? WRONG. Everything is VERO. Unless you have permission to sell your TV, sofa, car, phone etc by their owner you are breaking ebay VERO policy and the company can report you. This may be off topic but this is just 1 way in which eBay are "out to get you"...

Watch out people, PM me if you want some info.

I got a VERO warning for selling a magazine i had bought and read. I also got one for selling an old shirt i had finished with. Didn't know there was a limit though. 4 over what timescale?

I see my suggestion is mentioned and as been adopted by Amazon.

If using recorded - make sure the item does not fit through the letterbox - so they have to knock and can't just post it unsigned for.
