    Morning all,

I was expecting Noah to come floating past my window in his arc last night but the sun has now come out and I am hopeful that the day will be a sunny one The grassed area behind my house is usually busy during the day by people taking their dogs for walks but only the most hardiest of dogs (and their owners) have been venturing out to take their dogs for a walk.

My priority for today is to give the dogs a hair cut. Millie’s coat has taken on the texture and curl of a sheep and Lucy resembles a big fluffy teddy bear (with knots). Its so much easier to give them a hair cut when they have just had a bath but it’s a bit cold for a bath.

The tomatoes in the greenhouse are beginning to ripen and we had our first tomatoes and cucumber for tea last night. I have to say we havent been blessed with an abundant crop this year and the peppers havent born fruit at all. I don’t think we are going to be growing more than a couple of plants of each next year. Its really not been worth it. The grapes havent done well either.

Had a long and frank discussion last night with hubby over finances over the phone. I don’t usually get involved in his financial decisions but occasionally I can see him heading into a financial disaster and he is so very impulsive especially where ‘wheels‘ are concerned. It went well. We’ll see.

Hope all is well with your sister nmlc., such a disappointment that the hospital cancelled her op. Tiglath i hope you are feeling better soon. I remember my incisions not healing well when i had keyhole surgery back in 1996. I had to go back to my GP weeks later for antibiotics. Mind you, you cant see the scars now.

Son bought back a letter from college yesterday for me. They want him to be tested for colour defective vision. This should be interesting. Both his brothers are totally colour blind. We did have him tested a few years ago but it didn’t reveal anything of major concern. I could kick myself. This is something I should have arranged before he started college, preferably when he had his eyes tested last but i just didnt think. Mind you, if I thought there was a problem I would have had him tested again before now. He is confident he hasn’t got a problem with colours. I hope he is right as his dreams of being an electrictian could very well be cut short if he has.

Daughter popped in yesterday to pick up her parcells. Apparently she has more coming. I havent seen her for a fortnight and the first thing she said was 'God Mom your grey'. She didnt like the fact ive cut my hair short either. I was determined to get rid of the last of the hair colour and as much as i hate the short length... i take comfort in knowing it will grow.

With all the wet weather and floods, I hope your all dry and safe.

  • hi everyone,
Nice day planned. I used to belong to a textile group until the problems with my son started consuming all my energy.....well on sunday I went to an exhibition of theirs and met up with so many dear dear friends that I hadn't seen for ages and today I am meeting one for coffee and I've decided to re-join the group. Even if I don't get much sewing/crafting done, they are such a fabulous group of women and I missed them so much. The talent is a bit intimidating, but I canlearn from them.

After coffee with my textile friend I am going to have lunch with my son and then I have promised myself the rest of the day stitching. Have a huge tapestry only just started, a free hand embroidery set up and started and if I don't feel too inspired some knitting which is just following a pattern. Or could clear more of the spare bedroom (aka as a large cupboard) which hides most of my sewing/art/jewelery materials.

I'm not good at names, but the poster with the weeping op site.....if you are feeling sick and it's weeping pus a trip to the doctor sooner rather than later, could be an infection that's getting into your system? Sorry if you've already done that and I'm interfering.

Sympathy to the poster who's sisters op was canceled.....health staff seem only to see people as 'cases' and forget the huge impact their decisions have on real lives.

Fabulous news that the poster's husband job interview went so well. Congratulations.

Hugs to all who want them.

Lunch will be sandwich, dinner something with the cold meat left from the roast at the weekend. Probably chop it all up and throw it in some passata with vegies and bake some potatoes. That will save me a trip to the shops which I hate!

    Morning all,

    Tiglath-hope you feel better soon.
Daisiegg-hope the plumber sorts out the leak.
Bitsy-well done H,big decisions ahead for you all.Best of luck with it all.
nlj-sounds a nice day planned. There don't seem to be any sewing groups near me,which is a shame, think I'd enjoy one.

DGD was a little overwhelmed yesterday when we went to drop some pressies off,ok at first but quite a few turned up after we'd been there for 1/2 hr,and she started being a bit whingy. We helped her to rip the paper off:rotfl:She is coming at teatime for a couple of hours. She is having her party on Saturday, but I wont stay the whole time,DGN has been asked, but DN is working ,which would mean my Sis IL taking him,and he is at the hard work stage 18mths.I mentioned this to DS2s ex and she doesnt mind if we just go along for a bit, especially as she is coming to stay over after the party.

Didnt get to make the soup yesterday,so will do that shortly.I've taken beef rendang out of the freezer for tea, will just need to do some rice later.
I need to find the PPi forms I printed off here for DS2 too,put them safe somewhere.

OK,better carry on,hope you all have lovely days :)

Lovely and sunny here so towels and teatowels are on the line.

Tiglath hope you feel better soon.

Daisiegg hope you find a good plumber. We had an inside stoptap bust one New Year's Day boy what a fountain! And expensive too. DH did not appreciate the small swimming pool under the floorboards.

Bitsey let me know what part of Bath DH may be working in and I'll put my thinking cap on. You could look at the side of Bristol nearest to Bath. I'll ask OH.

I may go into town and have a mooch about this afternoon and meet OH from work. The next tranche of employees being made redundant are going tomorrow and he's a bit edgy. The next dept goes end of October. His group were taken off risk a while ago but they know they are going next year and that will complete the relocation. He can't wait to go but it's still a long drawn out process......

Tea may be corned beef hash.

Well hugs and kind words to all who need them.

    Have a good day.

Managed to get on here earlier today. Would like to think that I have suddenly become energetic and efficient. Honesty compels me to admit that I should really be doing something else that I am putting off.

Had terrific news yesterday about one of my drop-in men - now come on everybody, you know very well what I mean! He is the one who turned up with absolutely nothing but what he was wearing. After several weeks of sleeping behind some bushes in the park and getting drenched by the storms, he has been put into a hostel until he can be housed. We have been working so hard on this and I am so relieved - I actually slept last night.

I am chained to the computer today and on my own for lunch which will be a sandwich, and for dinner it will be whatever magic I can perform on 2 cooked chicken thighs that must be used up today.

Good luck HH with your useless helper. Seems like her room would be more use than her company. When you work in a school you usually find that you have more trouble with staff and parents than you do with the children.

Daisyegg: EEk! get a plumber and turn the water off pronto. After filling the kettle up first naturally.

Tiglath: You are having a tough time. Hope things feel better soon.

  • Gintot he would be working in the town centre. He is happy to commute, H's aunt and uncle who live near Weston suggested Warminster might be nice.

Have you considered phoning either gp or surgeon's secretary to mention the leakage of pus as it does not sound right and you could nip it in the bud.

    Hester

    Sounds more like a hinderer!;)

    Monnagran

So pleased about the drop in guy.

    Bitsy

Well done to DH on job.

Made DH and me brekkie and washing is on line including our bedclothes and things that have been in basket for three days because of awful weather.

Will walk down to near bridge later and see if they think it is safe to let people walk over it - cars were diverted yesterday and today. Weird to have the town split in two and be cut off from the other half.

DH has a la leftover sausage, mash and gravy for lunch and I have chicken drumstick and matchstick chips also a la leftover.

DD has requested beef and mushroom pie with mash tonight so have braising steak defrosting and need to pop to shop for mushrooms and potatoes and have a nosy at bridge .

Still waiting for firm diagnosis or diagnosesis on dd in hospital
but hoping kidney angiogram shows up what problem is.

Hugs to all who could use one
