The Clarity card that I have just signed up to has not applicable by paperless statements, do you have to wait a month or so before turning them off?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. AA offer paper free0

They all now seem obliged to send a statement via real post annually even if you go paper free. Probably to avoid being sued in some capacity.0

I don't think you can opt out of paper statement for Halifax Clarify. At least I can't find the option and have had the card for a couple of years now. Beside you DO want the Halifax Clarity paper statement as all information of when you need to pay and how much etc are all on the statement. You can't find these information online.0 -

Nationwide Select
Natwest Platinum
Tesco Clubcard Platinum
MBNA Mastercard (BMI - probably other Mastercards too)
Barclaycard Platinum
Thanks, can you clarify - which offer actual pdf statements (that look like the real paper statements you get in the post) and which offer only some other online format or pdf format which doesn't look like a proper statement, or give you all the same information as a proper statement?
For example - correct me if I'm wrong - on my barclaycard I only seem to be able to access the online info, and when I click to download the so-called pdf statement, it is basically just a printable version of the same online info (but still missing quite a bit of the detail I see on my paper statement).
Personally I wouldn't consider turning off paper statements on any account unless they offer a way to download an actual pdf statement, printable, and complete with all the same info as the paper statement. My accounts in the US are generally good about this - but in the UK, so far the only ones I know of have been Tesco and MBNA.
Ones I have that I'm pretty sure don't include:
- Barclaycard (OnePules, Cashback, or presumably any)
- Opus (previously Citi)
- Aqua
- HSBC Business (maybe the personal ones do?)0 -

can i ask what is the difference in the paper statements that is different in the online statement?. it shows what you have spent, what is limit, when you miniumu payment is due, how much is due and when the next satement is?Total Debt in June 2013: Barclaycard 0% until Nov 2014: £1550
Tesco CC: £1200 0% Until March 2014
HSBC CC: £384 25%APR - TARGET to make GREEN ASAP0 -

The main difference I have noticed on my barclaycard statements vs online printable pdf thing is: The paper statements show me (as many paper statements do) the breakdown of interest charges for the month, with corresponding balances and rates - so for example, i might see "£2.00 interest on £2,000 at XXX%; £14.00 interest on £4,500 at YYYY%". This is very useful for me in understanding the breakdown of my promotional BT rates vs normal purchase balances, and trying to optimise how much I pay off on each card each month.
I'm sure there are some other useful details as well, but this is the main one that comes to mind.
Beyond that, I just wouldn't want to give up the ability to have a printable statement, if, for example, I need something sort of "official" for proof of address or records or whatever. Of course some places won't accept anything but the actual paper statement (i.e. won't accept a printout/copy) - but sometimes having the ability to go ahead and print out a proper statement is useful.0 -

Often things like balance transfer offers and a breakdown of foreign currency transactions.
When you make a foreign currency transaction on a Halifax Clarity card, the paper statement shows the exchange rate whereas the online statement doesn't.
e.g.
23.59 USD @ 1.58789532 => £14.860 -
All American Express cards offer the full online statments with PDF which are exactly the same as a paper statment would be.0

I never get one off Barclaycard.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0
