Hello this is my first post so sorry if it’s in the wrong place. Just needto let off some steam about virgin media.
Here’s the story:
I moved in to a new rental on 24th august 2012. was told by virgin media installationwould be free as a new customer (reason 1 for choosing them over bt) and Iwould be able to get the full 100 mg if I wanted in the area (reason 2 eventhough I only choose to have the 30 mg) anyway I choose a package and was toldit would be 65.40 each month.. (basically the premiere collection but 30 not 60mg with anytime calls and 0844 numbers) anyway been waiting for our 1st bill asI pay by pay point not DD (paid £25 at the start for the privilege) woke upthis morning to find I had been cut off due to lack of payment?? :eek:I rang themup to be told my bill was £150 not 65 and unless I pay I won’t be connected. Iexplained how can I pay if I haven’t received my bill. (Was told it was sentout on the 24th Sept just 2 days ago. and it was for 2 months not 1 and installation fee) whywas I not explained all this at the start of the contract?? After a lot of arguingI now have been reconnected but with an internet speed of 0.5mg. I feel Ishould have been notified sooner that my first month would be 2 months upfrontand id be paying for installation which I was told would be free anyway.

The fixed monthly fees are always charged a month in advance on telcoms contracts. Installation is another matter, if you were told that there was no fee then you should dispute this.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

But as a first timer to services like that how was i to know the first months bill is infact 2 months? noone made me aware of this when i took it out. i was just told all my bills would be £65.40. my partner spoke to them in the end and got the instalation taken off and agreed to pay £70 as i wasnt told about the 2 months so happy result in the end0
