is 260 a month for groceries just for you and OH?
other than that sounds like since posting you are making great steps!
i agree with toiletries, my ultimate spend when i feel awful, yes this makeup will make me pretty and all my worries will disappear LOL!
i know just violently avoid all make up stores and aisles to the point where if i know i need anything, i give my OH money and ask him to get it when he goes shopping, men are never swayed by stupid crap claims that beauty companies make and when armed with a picture of the thing you want can be your toiletry ninja!IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SO CLEVER, THEN WHY ARE'NT YOU RICH?

also if you cant resist new clothes.....
i bet you dont wear everything in your wardrobe, get right in there, right to the back, the place you have stored clothes too small, embarrassing splurge purchases, forgotten buys etc you know the spot! and do the following
1) wear it (go on! you bought it to wear! if you cant bring yourself to then sell it)
2) if you love it but cant wear it, then do you love it enough to pay or alter it yourself?
3) sell it, if it is the wrong size, you have not worn it in the last 6 months, you put it on and it doesnt suit you (no point in having clothes that dont suit you) if you cant tell if you havent worn it then put all your clothes on hangers facing on way and when you wear it turn the hanger around, in 3 months you will see what you do and dont wear quickly)
4) do this once a month and you should pair down your wardrobe quite well.IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SO CLEVER, THEN WHY ARE'NT YOU RICH?

Hi Everyone,
Hope your all having a good day
kerri gt - at present we split all the household bills 50/50, this was an agreement before we moved in together. I would never get a joint account with OH as I would have to give a reason every time I needed money for anything no matter what it was!
OH has a bad habbit of putting a negitive spin on everything he doesn't agree with.
He thinks I should stick with CW because if I pay straight to my creditors then they will be knocking on the door demanding more all the time and there all evil and unhelpfull.
I've linked the NSD challenge to the pay off your debts 1% at a time challenge, £1 in the pot for every NSD completed, will be very pleased if I complete 10 in October - so far not looking good!
bargainbetty - 'Your OH might be worrying that you are becoming independent and that he might be something that you leave behind.' You could be right, it's just so frustrating!
I did end up typing it on a word doc, 24 moisturisers - that's just showing off!!:rotfl:
Tealady - when you put it like that GULP, thats 2.75 months less to a DFD!
The first instance I get (somewhere between work and home) i'm phoning the creditors to go over stuffWill let you know how I get on.
Have a good day everyoneDEBT FREE on the 23rd December 2013

citizenkitten - love your idea about turning the hangers round and seeing whats not being used, also have already put some clothes on ebay.
Yes £260 is for the 2 of us. OH Says we need this each month, (include £30 a month for laundrette) He is in control of this budget, I have the utilites, rent and council tax.
joolzred - I know mostly what trigged the overspending, a conbination of things. I am just into my 4th month off antidepressents after being on them for 8 years - therepy taught me a lot about myself and it's now a case of controlling the emotions. I did a spending diary through September and the more I reread it, it's like a horror novel - but it has only motivated me to cut down moreDEBT FREE on the 23rd December 2013

£230 a month for two people sounds quite a high budget, my OH and I are big food spenders and we have that budget, (we use it to eat out too minus big occasions). he is a very fussy eater making cheap food not very easy to do and refuses to plan ahead, this is one argument I cannot win and I have gotten him from barely being able to name 5 vegetables (that didn't include potato or lettuce in a burger) that he would eat to over 10 now (but i has taken me over 6 years!)
anyway if he is in control of that budget i dont know what you can do to influence that spend except maybe start leaving money saving tips on whoopsie food and vouchers etc around the house.... encourage him to go when there are whoopsies to be had... rave about some item or other in a cheaper supermarket and demand to have it therefore he encouraged to spend at the appropriate supermarket. if your freezer is full, tell him you need to defrost it and so all the food from the freezer must be eaten... normally most people have around 2 weeks worth of food within it.
then be like, oh we must have saved money this month on groceries, great we can use this to buy Christmas presents/ car maintenance (which he has had to pay for before....) etc!
get creative! where there is a will there is a way!IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SO CLEVER, THEN WHY ARE'NT YOU RICH?

Good morning everyone,
Quick question -
Spoke to one of my creditors this morning and they are happy to take payments from me and do an SOA over the phone - do I have to give them details of my other creditors or is it none of their business?
Want to get my facts right before I start blabbing!
Many thanksDEBT FREE on the 23rd December 2013

No, you don't. You are under no obligation to give them any financial details at all. Explain to them in writing that you are moving from a managed DMP to a self-managed DMP, and offer them your existing payment plus the equivalent percentage of the management fee.
Say that none of your other circumstances have changed since the DMP was set up, but you are changing it so the fees pay off your debt, and not the management company!
There is no need to provide them with anything more. Ask for their details to set up the standing order - do not allow them to set up a direct debit. You don't need to do anything else by phone, including a SOA incase they try to decide you need to pay more. Just write to them explaining the change and the fact that they will be getting more money.
You are offering higher payments if you can pay directly. Not much else needed.
Good luck.
I'm down to 16 bottles now. Still downright shameful, isn't it? :rotfl:Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

CW couldn't put me through to their closeing department - but DD is cancelled and a lovely letter will be on the way to them - signed for of course!
Equidebt were reall helpfull did it all over the phone agreed a new payment plan there and then - will wait for their confirmation letter to check all the details.
Cap 1 - have to fill out one of their forms but will pay them the same anyway.
Thank you to everyone on this board. I have instantly cut 2.5 months off my debt a year due to fees I was paying.
Will wait before I tell the OH as I can't bear the 'your'e an idiot, CW knew what they were doing lecture!'
