Yay I am so happy for you, what a lovely end to the week, now all of the payments will bring down the debt and you won't be wasting it on a company who basically do what you have done today. Get the Cap 1 sorted and you can start counting down the days until it is all gone.
Well done
Your OH sounds like he likes you being controlled by someone else, and maybe worries that you will become independent and not need him anymore, once he sees you are managing and still want him around I bet he settles down, do not let him bully you into something you don't want to do!!!

Citizenkitten - dropped hints about audi and lidl, I've always wanted to try shopping there. Here's hoping!:)
i would research what other MSErs feel about these shops, I cannot comment i have been in them very infrequently for very specific items.
there are amazing shopping tips here but i am of little use for such thingsIF YOU THINK YOU ARE SO CLEVER, THEN WHY ARE'NT YOU RICH?

I can tell you that Aldi is very good, it is a stack em high sell em cheap sort of place, but that is where the beauty lies, you are not paying for packaging, and staff costs, fancy looking shelving, so the prices are cheap and a lot of what you get in there is as good if not better than the other supermarkets.
As an example, I used to buy tins of big soup at a cost of £1, Aldi so a chunky soup that I believe is identical and it is 69p I tried the chicken and veg one last night and I swear there is no difference.
I have heard their washing powder (Almat) is very good although I have not tried this as my son has quite sensitive skin and so I am sticking with Daz, again one of the cheaper ones thankfully.
The meat is good value, and each week they choose 6 items of fruit and veg and put them on at a special price, I think 39p each, so it is always good to go to have a look round, even if you don't buy anything, take your OH with you and say something like 'my friend says this is a good place let's go and see what she is on about' at least get him in the door, he might just find a bargain or two he likes and you can let him think it is his idea

I have spent my lunch hour playing with figures and spreadsheets (droooooooooooooool!!). At the moment my plan of action is to phone my creditors and go over the terms (mainly mine!) then take next week to think about it as I wouldn't start untill the 1st of November paying directly to them (to late to cancel the dd to churchwood).
I have joined the NSD challenge for October and Pay your debts 1% at a time - which looks like fun:D
Yorkshirelass - I started a notebook in September (no computer at home for me, never needed one) and I am writing down each month all bills that need paying and other expenses, not to mention my spending diary, which made me think bloody hell:eek: when I read what I had actually been buying! (unneeded crap mainly!) Black and white really can slap you in the face!!
September has been a good month, not so much as a LBM more of a big hallegeon lamp hitting me on the head!!!
is there any of these purchases you can take back and get some back on.
or stick them on ebay.0 -
Hi
Glad to hear you are making strides and that your creditors are OK with a self managed DMP. It is good isn't it to bring your DFD forward. I know how I felt when I was in debt.
Re Aldi -I love the wholemeal bread they sell (the soft one) it freezes well and makes great toast. Try the cereals, I have made some great savings there. Good luck, I am sure you will get thereFind out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
Good morning everyone,
Quick update - CW called me back Friday afternoon/evening and confirmed they had stopped my DD (I had already done this on Friday myself) and were closing my account. Will wait for their letter to check the details.
Could someone tell me, when I send my bank statements to Cap 1 can I cross out my account details? I have told them I will set up a SO which I have done.:D
OH announced on Saturday that we need to get the shopping budget down! I felt like asking 'OK who are you and what have you done with my OH?!'
Found out there is a Lidl about half an hours drive away so I'm thinking about wondering over to have a peek and weigh up if it's worth it in petrol.
Happy Tuesday everyone:jDEBT FREE on the 23rd December 2013
