  • Hi Lauroar, my savings is linked to current and so easy to trf from account to account - I chose that in case I needed money quick!!!
But your post got me thinking and a very very long time ago I had an ISA which I paid in £20 and at one point got to £1000 (don't get excited that also dissapeared a long time ago!) as I gradually increased payments. The point was I had to write to the ISA people to get my money which and writing letters has never been my strong point so I put it off. This could be the answer :)

This forum makes my head think in practical ways:rotfl: - Thanks everyone :)

It gets quite addictive after a while and then you try to beat your own goals you have set for yourself, keep going and update here when you can.

  • Payday today and for the first time in a long long while money left at the end of the month. £55.14:T

The back of my diary is fast becomming my finance section where i'm keeping track of everything from spending diary to MSE challenges.

Conflicting figures from Santander - received a statement saying the outstanding figure was £5283.80, receive one of these every 3 - 6 months! The DCA say thay have a figure of £4802.84 and this is what they have been asked to collect! There's a lovely £480 difference in my favor.
Should I leave it or get an actual figure confirmed as I don't really want to find out I do have to pay the difference and would rather budget for it. :)

Have a good weekend everyone :)

  • To help you with the toiletries stuff, go to the Marriage, Couples and Family board and join up with the No Buying Toiletries challenge.

I did it for six months last year, and still haven't bought any new stuff. You go through all your stuff, post up a list of what you have, and set yourself a challenge of using things up before you buy anymore. I found I had seven bottles of shower gels and body washes, and five of body scrub. It took me six months to get to a point where I needed to buy anything. If you find you don't like a product too much, they have advice on how to use it differently (one shower gel was watered down for handwash) and things like that.

Cheap mosituriser can be watered and used instead of shaving foam/soap - lovely conditioned skin too!

You also end up pampering yourself too, which makes you feel good and once you get that buzz out of not spending the money, you find yourself taking better care too.

Lovely ladies on there - its a real support network, and they even have a naughty step for those who give in and buy stuff :)

Good luck, and ignore your OH on the DMP company, as if the companies have agreed and know they can get a bit more money too, you shouldn't have a problem. Do it for three months and then tell him if you feel like it.....
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Could someone let me know how this sounds, it's a letter I want to send to my creditors so I have written comfirmation and not just a telephone call.

    Dear sir,

As per the telephone call on with one of your helpline employees, please confirm in writing that you have agreed to the following points disscussed-
I will be taking over from Churchwood Finanicial, which in turn will up you payments due to the fees paid to Church wood each month
Payments will be made the 1st of each month by standing order for £.........
All creditors will need to agree to this in order for this to happen, if all creditors are not in agreement then the arangement will stay with Churchwood.

Please confirm in writing so I can start payments at the earlist date.

    Yours faithfully

Please feel free to have a good laugh at my spelling - that and letter writing are deffo not my strong points!:rotfl:

    Many thanks :)

I wouldn't put in that you would go back to Churchwood, it is none of their business who has your money, but if you think they may not agree, then put in that you will continue to pay what you have already been paying and there will be no increase. This will probably get them jumping up and down for the extra money so might just agree :)

Be careful not to offer more than you can afford though as you don't want to miss any payments once they do agree.

  • Hello!

Regarding the toiletries addiction (no judgment! I was just as bad 2 weeks ago).... I found make a list of EVERYTHING I already have helped. I basically have enough toiletries to fill Boots as it is and have made a pledge to only buy something new when all my oldies have run out. At the moment I have 13 moisturisers... THIRTEEN!!

A couple of ponderings I had over the weekend-
I have been in debt since I was 18 and have known nothing else (other than my own stupidity) since then! Got a store card almost after my 18th and then its a down hill struggle.
£20500 debt at its highest over the years I can't believe how much I have wasted on interest!

A family member proved to me over the weekend that untill you have your LBM there is no helping.

This site is like one big virtual hug :)

A selling item watched constantly on Ebay does not sell any quicker or for more!

Heffi1 - I have worked out what is affordable and will stick to it like chewing gum to hair! Thank you for checking this.

Mockingjay - I just spent 45 mins listing all my toiletries for the not buying any for October (on the couples and family board) and my post dissapeared! Oh well there's always tomorrow lunch time! 13 moisturisers is ermm WOW!
