How do the board guides get thanked for all their hard work?

I've been Money Tipped!
Don't know if this already happens, but can the board guides get a little something for all the hard work they put in?

I know they volunteer for the job and i know they do it [STRIKE]out of sheer love for Martin[/STRIKE] as they're kind people, but i think a little bit of recognition each year of service or something would go a little way?

Redfox on the old tesco misprice thread needed a medal mediating their way through that one! Although was thinking of something practical like an Argos voucher, bottle of wine etc etc etc, not a big thing, but something that lets them know how appreciated they are as quite often their time and effort goes unseen.
Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I'm not alone thinking that just a 'THANKS' isnt quite enough for what they do then
    THANKS
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I Know

    Thanks, bylromarha.

Most BGs choose to volunteer simply because they have gained so much from the site and it's just a nice way to give something back. :)

We do sometimes bear the brunt of people's complaints, unfortunately, so it always nice to have people posting pleasant things and pointing out the fact that our role is appreciated. Most of the BGs also have full or part-time jobs out in the 'real world' and just devote as much of our spare time as we are able to :) We wouldn't carry on doing it if we didn't love it, though! ;)
  • Just to add how important the Board Guides are to MSE from the Forum Team

The Board Guides are often in "the front line" as they are the people that visitors often see as the first point of contact for MSE. It's important that we always stress that they are not part of the moderation team (which is a common mistake people make) but they do go beyond the call of duty on many occasions to ensure that the forum as a whole runs well.

Simply, with the sheer amount of posts made and members interacting on here, they are intrisic to making this place run. People often forget that they do this in their free time and because they want to help. We would struggle to run effectively without them and they are a big part of bringing this free resource to you. It's always important that this is acknowledged.

Thanks to bylromarha for this thread too; it's nice when forum users take the time to compliment what the Board Guides do.

Just a thanks from me too - it can be a thankless job although Martin and the MSE team are always very good at making us feel appreciated and loved :)
As others have pointed out then we do this in our spare time, and many of us have full time jobs too and being a BG takes a lot of our free time. Personally I do it out of love for MSE and the help I have gained from here to give something back. And I very much believe in what MSE and Martin is trying to acchieve so to me it is never a duty but most definitely something I enjoy :)

So thanks for taking the time to thank the BGs :) It's nice to feel appreciated from time to time by the forum users - but rest assured Martin and the MSE gang tell us often how much they love us :)
