Benifits Check Up

Can any one advise- when I do a check up it either says we get nothing or it says we will still get 39.00 JSA/IB/income support.I thought if you worked 16 or more hours you had no entiltlement to these benifits. Do you think it is going wrong because it is the end of tax year? Could someone check for me-wages 90.00/carers 46.00 apart from childcbenifit and DLA this is all we have coming in. We would get the disabled element also.

You will not get jsa etc on that level. Also you can only earn £84 a week on carers allowance not £90.

I put in these figures-My husband will be getting 85.00p/w wages, I get carers allowance for him-46.00p/w, He also gets middle and lower rate DLA. When I put this in it keeps saying an extra 39.00 in the results box (assuming JSA/IB/income support! He will be working 18hoursp/w and qualifies for the disability element also.

The CAB will do a benefits check for you - and help you with any claims.

if you are claiming one of those benefits as a couple the partner is allowed o work up to 24hrs per week(only the parner).wages will be taken into account a certain amount will be disregarded depending on what your claiming as-jobseeker,lone parent or sick?

you should be entitled to working tax credit, through which the dissability elements are now paid, i thought you meant that you earned the £90 not your husband. you can also claim child tax credit through the inland revenue. You will get extra for the dissability.

So when I do the benifits check I should ignore the line where it says we would get 39.00 assuming income support/JSA/IB. This is what keeps coming up-This can't be right surley-

    Tax Credits-Initial Tax Credit: £9,002.50 £0.00
    Tax Credits-Final Tax Credit: £9,002.50 £0.00
    Income Support/JSA: £2,057.03 £39.45 Assumes adult-only Income Support/JSA(IB).
    Council Tax Benefit: £864.00 £16.57
    Total: £11,923.53 £56.02 Total means-tested entitlements
    Earned Income (net): £4,432.14 £85.00
    Other Income (net): £2,448.10 £46.95
Income From Child Benefit: £1,519.96 £29.15
    Total Income: £20,323.73 £217.12

    hi
quick rough calc in my head assuming that your claiming i/s as a couple as one of yu is sick or a carer.you would get the basic 90.10 couple rate,as yourin receipt of carers allowance you would qualify for a carers pemium which is roughly 25.00,you would then qualify for a disability premium of roughly 36-00.total this together take of income-carers allowance iand any wages less disregard (20 pound if claiming as sick) .

That is what we have now but he wants to work 16hrsp/w and when I put in his wage and my carers the figures it gives me are those in my last post. Someitmes it says tax credits and child credits total 170.00. But it always keeps putting in an extra 39.00 and that is what I don't understand.

    Hi daff duck,

It sounds like the same confusion I had when entering our details in the entitledto calculator. It said that we were intitled to IS/JSA also, I contacted the job centre to ask them to confirm whether we where infact entitled to IS ect if working, claiming CTC/WTC/DLA & child benefit ecy. They explained that you can not be paid JBA or IS and WTC at the same time.

Im not sure if IB is different, a friend of my husbands does claim IB although his wife works, it may have something to do with the amount of stamp paid though from reading through posts from others on here. I certainly am no expert on the benefit system and entitlement, I would think your best bet would be to call into CAB (unless like ours it's a nightmare to get to see someone there  ) alternatively give the local job centre a call and ask them to advise you as they will probably know best.

    Good luck :)

    hi daff duck
who is the customer and who is working .as i said before a ptnr can work up to 24 hrs but the customer can only work up to 16hrs.what rate of dla do u receive? from my rough calc i think as long as its ptnr working under 24 hrs u would be entitled to about 39.00
