Just been dismissed for Gross Misconduct :(

he didn't say he gave their names, even if he did it would be very unlikely for them to sack someone after the fact and even if they were to do that, if the rule is enforced on one it should be enforced on all, so you may see it as not nice but what is the guy meant to do if he thinks he is being treated differently to others...just not mention it!
Sounds to me like he sniched:cool:0 -
Well I can assure you that I didn't "snitch". I'm not that sort of person, and it hardly looks good on me if as soon as I get in trouble I try and take others down with me.
I made a mistake. Me.
I feel I've been treated differently to others, but I've not mentioned them in my disciplinary. The investigation was into my actions, not the actions of anyone else.
PupPupI have autism, so apologies if I come across as rude. It may just be my communication problems.0 -
I got dismissed yesterday for gross misconduct.
Now, basically I did commit gross misconduct - on 8 occasions I went home early and declared otherwise on my timesheet. I was found out because we swipe around the building and so they checked my swipes and found they were different to my forms.
I have Asperger's Syndrome and severe depression (made worse by the job) and the manager has had it in for me from the beginning. He's been waiting for an excuse to get rid of me and sadly, I gave him a reason
My mitigating circumstances seem to have been ignored and other staff have been asleep on duty (also gross misconduct) and gone early/come in late with no punishment. I feel that the decision to dismiss me was made before the disciplinary procedure was initiated, and that it was dragged out over the best part of a month in order to increase my distress.
I can't go into further details because of the employer and having signed certain documents preventing me from doing so. I have written a letter of appeal, but in honesty I don't really want to go back to the job after the way they've treated me.
My main problems are that I have debts (appointment to see CAP on 18/10/12) and rent to pay. I live alone in a 2-bed flat, so sadly HB and Council Tax Benefit won't cover everything and I don't think I can get JSA for 6 months as I was dismissed for GM. I have nowhere to go and am going to end up homeless
I had an interview for a job last Friday, but because of the security clearance required, it's likely I won't get it now because of this incident.
Does anyone know anything I can do? I'm already applying for every job I'm capable of doing and putting in my appeal, but is there anything else I can do? I may get up to 2 more pay packets, but once this runs out I'll have no income and no way of staying in my home.
I'm trying hard not to fall back into a fit of depression, but holding it together is difficult right now and I don't know where else I can turn.
Thanks if anyone has any advice, or even just replies so I know I'm not alone :')

Firstly, we would all love to go in a time machine, personally I'd just live in it because of the amount of mistakes I've made. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but humanity is better.
From my experience, some people get away with anything and everything and others don't, especially when being watched just waiting for you to do something wrong.
Plan of action if you're up for it
CAB, Money Advice Service, Shaw Trust, Jobcentreplus. Swallow your pride get as much info, help, advice as you can because when this minor setback is over you will be back on top and probably better for it. You have a right to be treated fairly and equally, when you joined the company they were aware of your Aspergers and depression and yet they treat like this. They got rid of you knowing that you are probably going through hell which would affect anyone more so someone who is suffering with depression/anxiety or both.
I also suffer from depression/anxiety/ptsd but basically I am not a diagnosis and I used to look after people like me. Ive had a lot of bad luck but I try to think that if i've had my share maybe its someone else's turn and my turn for good luck. Hope this helps no-one understands what depression is like unless they go through it themselves, I am not the same as you but if you feel like I do sometimes then I do understand somehow.

Bravo, someone had the guts to say this. Imagine if you, not u personally sniggings, were Puppup I don't think you'd be asking strangers for help you'd be doing less constructive things. He needs constructive advice and encouragement because he's not getting it from anywhere else.

Just thought I'd update any interested parties.
I'm now on some new antidepressants which don't yet seem to have any bad side effects (hooray!) and I've managed to get a Christmas temp position in Boots, so I can start rebuilding my reputation as a reliable and hardworking employee (which I was before I was a cleaner for G4S). I've only got 24 hours a week, so I will probably still have to leave my home, but I'm now focused on finding a new flat and a permanent job.
Thanks to everyone on the forum for your support

Good luck with that, and before you leave your home check out if you are entitled to any help towards the council tax or rent as sometimes they help those on low wages but Im not sure of all the details.
Hopefully you will enjoy it there and it will at least provide you with some income and new references.0 -

Isn't it confidential ? Looks like he enjoys it0

So you're upset that you're being called a thief - even though that's exactly what you are..? :rotfl:
Don't think you'll find any sympathy here. Consider yourself lucky you're not in prison where you belong.0 -
What do you mean does he have the right to talk about it? If it's true then yes he does. You have been dismissed for gross misconduct for stealing. There will not as in a compromise agreement have been any mutual obligations of confidentiality. Why should there be? Do you think your boss can't tell people the reason you have left??
If you are not on a criminal charge then count yourself lucky and move on.0
