    Say no!
    Don't hide behind the settee.
  • Having just read this post I'm really concerned that I've fallen hook line n sinker for this scam if that's what it is!!!

I have done all the signing etc n now theyre calling me back. (Months later) to give me my report...

Please advise what can I do? Just ignore the calls n hope they go away? Answer n say thank you n not sign up for any other stuff?

By the way I was a Teacher for 15 years or so... 10 years abroad.. Paying in for my pension when teaching service chn in Germany but not paying when working for Shell in Africa. I became ill in Africa n returned to UK where I worked on n off due to illness but at least 2 years full time then I had babies n became far too ill to work at all.. I did apply for retirement due to ill health but they said no as I might get better... I could re apply but I'm unsure it's the best thing to do anyway... That's another story but that's why I was keen to get info from Avacade....

    Please help!!

  • I have just got off the phone to avacade who spent an hour of there time talking me through my pension options... some of the grey areas I had are a bit clear now. I asked then to do a pension search for me a few months ago and they came back with report on a pension I forgot I had which was good news for me. I have now asked them to do a second report after finding an old employment pension which they are happy to do. weather or not I will go with any of there advice is soley down to me but they do sound the propa job and yes they only give advice on your pensions if you want to take things further they put you in touch with a FIA reg company to do the rest.
  • I had a cold call from Avacade today. I was very wary as I did not Know where they had got my info. from. I asked them and they said it was from an online competition that I had entered and that they never cold called as it was against the Law! (I don't remember filling in a about a frozen pension, but I may have said That I was interested in pension advice-can't remember!!) Anyway having read the thread I will not be signing with them.

  • I've just been called by Avacade an hour ago and thought i would check them out and got on this site. I had my doubts on the second phone call to tell me what the couriers name would be, but " he isn't qualified to answer any questions i might have" !!!! Alarm bells rang. Thank you for this site i'm now going to make the call to cancel.

Another tell tell sign of a scam is that they tend to want things to move very quickly so you dont find out is a scam. Use of a courier is frequently used by scams.

Now, courier doesnt mean scam but its just one of those extra things that stacks up to put you on guard.

  • I have also been contacted by Avacade and am concerned that there is a lot of reference to this being a scam. I have to be honest, I did have concerns initially about being contacted, however after taking advantage of their noobligation service, I have found the experience very useful.
The use of a courier was for my protection as ID had to be provided to chase my pension information and to quite honest I am glad they took my security as seriously as they did.
At no point did I get given advice but I did get provided with a free pension report, showing how my dormant pensions had performed over the last few years and if honest it wasn't pleasant reading as most of them had lost money..... They guided me through my options and left me to decide what I did next.
I am now waiting for my next update and so far am pleased with how they have handled my queries.

    Pensions do not go dormant.
They guided me through my options and left me to decide what I did next.
If they are not regulated to do give pension reviews and advice, then how did thy achieve that?

What "next update"? Is this where they then give you some recommendation to transfer it? (even though they are not regulated or authorised to do such a thing using regulated investments)
