I see nothing I don't have to put up with every time I go out on my bike. I have been told off by pedestrians for riding on a cycle path and by motorists for riding on a road. I have had drinks cans and cigarettes thrown at me, I have had police cars open their doors while I am passing (leaving as much room as possible) and had to jump for my life when a lorry came way too close and clipped me.
And I wear a high vis vest or jacket at all times.
In this country you have to be an offensive cyclist rather than a defensive one, but that did not help me when no-one would let me off a 3 lane roundabout, had to go round 9 times and leave at the wrong junction and walk across a couple of roads to get to the right road.!
When I had to jump to avoid being knocked off by the lorry, I was obviously quite shaken. I got back on and was wobbling like anything, then I noticed I was being given more room. If I am on a less than wide road now I wobble like that and get given all the room I needWhat is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Is it not time cyclists had their own sub-board on here? Then I wouldn't be tempted to click on threads that mention cyclists. :shrug:0

The left hook would have got some very loud swearing from myself, and would probably be 'driving without due care', but nobody is going to prosecute that without an accident in this country...
Nothing on that video that I don't see most weeks on my commute. Try searching SMIDSY on YouTube...!
on this one:

towards the end from 0.59 onwards there is a cycle land but he's cycling in the middle lane? and he thinks he's in a position to 'name and shame' others :rotfl:0 -
So many people don't know their Highway Code.
Rule 63: "Use of cycle lanes is not compulsory and will depend on your experience and skills"
Had he been in the cycle lane he might have been knocked down by that car0 -

I deduce from the word "their" that you are not a cyclist, maybe after reading the cyclist threads on here you may learn something and improve your driving around cyclists. Better yet, get on a bike in traffic and feel the love that motorists give to cyclists.
Or do you just want to sit back and treat cyclists on this board the same as you treat cyclists on the road?

Honestly I think a dedicated cycling board would be better.
Any thread here with the word 'bicycle' in it gets dribbling morons spouting off about how cyclists are a menace to society.0 -
Best learn your Highway Code and road law before making smart-@rse comments.
"Box junctions. These have criss-cross yellow lines painted on the road (see 'Road markings'). You MUST NOT enter the box until your exit road or lane is clear. However, you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right. At signalled roundabouts you MUST NOT enter the box unless you can cross over it completely without stopping.
"
The exit road is clear, she's fully entitled to be in the box junction.
And the law:
"The road markings shown in diagrams 1043 and 1044 shall each convey the prohibition that no person shall cause a vehicle to enter the box junction so that the vehicle has to stop within the box junction due to the presence of stationary vehicles.
"
It would be nigh on impossible to breach box junction rules on a bike, since they could just filter up the inside or outside of traffic queuing in the exit road.
As there is no traffic in the exit road, it is 100% allowed to enter the box.0 -
You mean the board that is titled "Motoring Public Transport & Cycling"

I just thought it would be a good idea so that you can all have a good moan at motorists without being interrupted.
It is just strange that there are hardly any posts on here "about cycling", 95% of them are started to have a pop at motorists when most motorists are actually quite considerate to cyclists. We all know an equal or greater percentage of cyclists ignore the highway code themselves and are a menace driving through red lights etc.0 -
Cyclists terrify me as a driver - we have some really ignorant ones round here. I am as careful as I can be and give as much room as I can, but it's frustrating when they're nearly in the middle of the road, I can't overtake, and yet I'm in the wrong?
IMO there should be more cycle lanes, and if there's a cycle lane present a cyclist should be fined if they don't use it.
Oh, and fined for not having full PPE on - hi-vis vest, sturdy clothes and helmet minimum.

You're only in the wrong if you try to overtake in a dangerous manner, not giving enough space to other road users (just as you would be if the cyclist was a car, bus, tractor, lorry, horse, etc).
If you get frustrated I suggest you chill out, realise that you'll lose more time to traffic lights and other vehicles than you will to cyclists, and maybe give yourself an additional 2 minutes for your journey. It's only numbers.0
