AA called window exploded

If the drivers side window broke why did he need to be towed to a garage? Obviously it is safe to drive with the window effectively "open", may not be particularly pleasant on a cold and wet night but I would have driven to the closest services / town etc and then phoned the hire company again. I didn't understand why the need to be towed ??
Anyway, whatever the reason it broke, its good the hire company will deal with it, its quite a nuisance as it won't be very secure with a broken window overnight!!!0 -
Did he take out any cover for damage?
If not it could get expensive.0 -
I assume so, don't think they've mentioned him paying for it to be fixed they simply said they'd drop him another car off early doors.
I said exactly the same thing, why waste time towing it when nothing can be done tonight anyways. He's driven with the window down and he's 10 minutes away now.
Best be a good friend and get the kettle on he's going to be pretty chilly me thinks0 -

He's stopped at the side of the motorway with AA on route to him now.
Tell him not to stop on the hard shoulder unless he is broken down, it's the most dangerous place to be on a motorway.ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0 -
Kendalls repair most of the damage to their vehicles in house, anything they can't do they pass to local garages as they get discounts.
I'm not sure whether windscreens are covered by their Insurance as I've not had one go when I've hired from them.
There a nice company, the staff on the front desks lack a bit on the customer service front though.
The offices open at 8am if you need to speak to someone in the office0 -
I don't understand why anybody would stop on the hard shoulder for an extended period of time for this.
Take a look, remove any dangerous glass and drive on to get it sorted elsewhere!0 -
There should be a number for autoglass in the paperwork he has from the hire company - AA won't be able to do anything...

The last people you want is Autoglass they turn a £150 job into a £600 job and on a hire car I assume the OP will be paying.
However not easy finding a local company when you are at the side of the road.0 -
A few years ago I was at a conference for the weekend. The hotel didn't have parking but you could park for free in a public carpark two minutes away. So late on Sunday afternoon I found my car windscreen had been vandalised and the car was undriveable. Autoglass didn't have a repair facility in the town but if I could drive it about 30 miles away in half an hour they might fix it! The AA relayed me home, about 150 miles away and Autoglass replaced the windscreen on Monday. The AA was worth its membership fee to me that night! And so was my insurance cover that included windscreen repair.0
