I have now just found out that the ftb had his offer
Sent to his first solicitor which he is not using anymore and now the bank won't issue an offer to the new solicitor as long as they have confirmation from the old solicitor that they are not acting for them
Gosh!!! This is a long process. It's been 3 weeks and nothing been materialised0 -
Here's my experience - just FTB, us, end of chain but with tenants.
Our offer accepted, end of chain gave notice to tentants, all set to exchange shortly after tenants due to have left (supposed to be out tomorrow). Tenants now refusing to leave until 1st Nov because they couldn't find anywhere suitable (dog and children) and contract on new rental starts then, so won't for another 3-4 weeks now assuming they move out as promised. we r still waiting to exchange,
the bottom chain has returned the mortgage paper work and now someone is giving him some money towards the purchase, which there solicitors have said the lender needs to know its a gifting deposit.0 -
I could be the first time buyer in the OP's post. I had an AIP before putting in an offer a month ago. It was accepted the next day and I immediately instructed a solicitor, spoke to the bank and gave them everything they needed, gave solicitor details to the estate agent and had every possible bit of paperwork sent by the following day. And yet, still waiting for a mortgage offer.
The mortgage advisor at the bank went off sick and to start with I was told it was being handled by her from home, then it wasn't, then there was no cover available for her, then there was, but she'd have to get the replacement to phone me tomorrow (which she didn't). The paperwork was all there, then they were still waiting for something, then it mysteriously turned up at the branch in the post the following day, even though it had been handed in, in person, 4 weeks previously (?!). Then mortgage advisor 2 was going to phone me back on Thursday, Friday, Monday - "sorry, still haven't looked at it, I'll phone you right back this afternoon" - today... Exasperating.I'm probably still weeks away from getting an answer out of them.
Oops. Didn't mean to have a rant. What I was trying to say is that there's a good chance your FTB is doing everything they can and the banks are being their usual, useless selves.
This almost sounds like my experience, I am an FTB and have done everything ASAP just like you describe. The lender is taking their time...0 -
we exchanged today YAy
we are a very easy chain, just one buyer and us, even though a five bedder. Problem was their mortgage co, HSBC who were just awful. Still all done and dusted now, and the race is on to get everything else done for completion in two weeks0 -

Our mortgage offer came through really quick. We made the full application online on a Sunday night. Valuation was done Tuesday. Had to resend some documents as they were not correct and got the offer on Friday! I was pretty amazed. Waiting on solicitors and surveys now.0

Just found out now, that the bottom chain ftb solicitors had to resend the mortgage paper back to his client, as the witness bit hasnt been signed""" are you for real."""
it took Him 3 weeks just to return the mortgage paper worki
I really don't know what to do. SOMEONE HELP0 -
sounds like you've got a bit of a clueless FTB there ! Do you know if the rest of the chain is all ready to go & it's just the FTB that is needing to sort their end out? A bit of pressure from your buyer's EAs may help him stick that stamp on the envelope a bit faster, or even drop it into the solicitor's office asap"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510
