Electric Heating Storage v Wet Central Heating

Not sure where is best to post this in here or in the electricity / gas forum.
We have recently bought a small 2 bed flat with 20 year old electric storage and panel heaters.
We would like a system that is centrally controlled either a more modern version of what we have or we would consider a Wet electric heating system.
Any body any experience of the modern storage heaters on the market would they be much of an improvement?
Or should we look at the wet systems and rough idea of installation / maintance costs?
Gas isn't an option nor is oil etc.
