0% purchases, min repayments amount, which easiest to get, can they take away 0%?

If you really have to ask then the banks and credit cards will love you for years and years to come. They will make a mint off you.
So if your now leaving Uni soon what did you do last summer (cue a film for you there) and the summer before and the one before that?? Did you not have a break then??
Kids today want everything now instead of working and saving for it.0 -
Without a list of your dads credit cards we can't suggest, as some providers do not allow you to hold more than 1. i.e. MBNA allow multiple, but will normally split your credit limit over your cards, so if you dad has one and is maxed out, they'll not offer another.
Yes, they can take away the 0% if you don't stick to the T's&C's i.e. do not pay on time, atleast the minimum, or go over your CC limit..
I thought banks all gave students credit cards now a days..i had one(or more) when i was 18??

Hi,
Don't take some of the negative comments to heart, Rossyl I think this may indeed have become the green eyed monster forum.
In answer to your question why don't you go through and have a look on Martins article for which CC's have the longest 0% purchase rate and if your dad doesn't already have that one you could try that, as long as your Dad has a good credit history etc.. should not be too much a problem.
Also please do be aware that most of these are only about 6-9 months of 0% then the interest will really jump so if you haven't paid it off by then you would need to move it to somewhere else on a cheaper rate.
A word of caution £5000 is a lot of debt to be getting yourself into, a month holiday needn't cost so much, and if you blow so much on having a good time you might regret it in the future.

thanks thumshie and little kitten.
I'll see if i can get a list.
They do give creit cards, but the last time i tried to get one with a 0% balance transfer they just offered me a normal one. I think they may hold back the special offer cards for those in full time employment. As I currently have 3 credit cards. All with £0 balance.
The £5000 isn't just for the holiday, but also for current travel/living expenses as i am running out of money. Bad I know. However, that £5k is really the highest amount. i can see it being closer to £3000, maybe even less.
However, i take your point entirely getting into so much debt at an early stage is silly.Young homeowner...with a large mortgage0 -
Hmn rude and condescending but you agree with me.
Get your story straight my old son.
As for the OP I've worked for nearly 30 years without a break (only my usual 27 days per year) so I really feel for you wanting to spend a month away now on somebody else's money!!!!
Exactly, rude and condescending. I didn't agree with the way you put your 'advice' across.0 -

Am I one of the 'envious' ones? Doesn't matter to me what the OP does during his month off or how much money he spends.
In your original advice jay you pointed out it was April (just), so go out and earn some money towards the month off, and I would agree regardless of the undoubted hard work OP has put into his studies in order to secure what sounds like a very good job.
It's not a right to have time off and the OP goes on to say when he starts work he will have 25 days holiday - though a good salary, implying that 25 days hol a year is not so good! I'm 9 years with my employer and my entitlement is 26 days, and I suspect that's about the norm.
But overall the orig question still doesn't make sense to me. OP asks if the 0% can be taken away? Where is this relevant to the old man getting another card in order to provide OP with the money he/she needs? And not for a loan but for purchases (You can generally obtain cash from a CC's incidentally OP, though not wise as has aready been pointed out it is a very expensive way of getting cash).
OP seems to have worked out that he will need £3k min, £5k max but what are these purchases? Presumably wont be 1 single £3k/£5k purchase but will increase during the period?
Min payments will prob be around 3% and so the amount due will depend on the balance and the int rate. In that case if 0%, bal £3000 - payment due = £90. If 10% bal £300 - payment due = £8.25 etc.
But, for someone who clearly is a bit of a hot-shot (I never said/implied stuck up) this is a completely !!!-about-face way of funding a holiday isn't it?
It's probably me but sorry I just don't get it, but sincerely, have a wonderful month off0 -

Fair enough don't read any more of my advice.
To each his own - I call a spade a spade.
An idiot now will be an idiot in 5 and 10 years time.
I am not an idiot.
Denial can be a powerful thing. Admitting you have a problem is the first stage of the healing process.
No one ever said you were an idiot? You seem to be complaining too much about your own confession. Why on earth would you even come on a forum to try and prove you were not? Very very strange.Young homeowner...with a large mortgage0 -

It's always best when you laugh at your own jokes isn't it?
You are now not an idiot or a loser, you are however clearly on a roll. Congratulations on this voyage of self-discovery...god only knows what you shall find out tomorrow.
Also, have you thought about getting any of your quotes published? You are like Aristotle incarnate.
Once again if you chose to read a post, rather than just stalking what forums i post in (that isn't scary at all!!) and then posting a comment you would maybe find out something. Ever thought what the term "matched" betting meant?
As for me being a lazy student etc, you are the one who seems to be wasting far too much time stalking my posts. Very worrying, here was me thinking you would be valuing the days off.
Hope you are well.Young homeowner...with a large mortgage0
