Only want 6 months broadband deal?

Does anyone know of a good and cheap broadband and phone package that is either month by month or only a 6 month contract? I'm moving into a flat but only for 6 months. It has a BT socket and I believe the previous occupants had BT internet.
I'm not in a great broadband area but Virgin online quoted £22 a month for broadband and phone line. This seems good but is obviously a 12 month contract by default. Do you think it would be worth ringing them up to negotiate this for only 6 months?
Or maybe you know of a better deal?

come up with a slightly different solution.
already have an unlocked 3 mifi, so may use a prepaid 3 sim with 3gb of data that lasts 3 months. is only £12. beats paying for line rental. sure its not great for videos and stuff but is only short termSwagbucks since July 2012 - £300 Paypal, £330 Amazon

If you want just for one computer, I would suggest t-mobile pay and go - you can eother do a 3month dongle £30 or top up (daily, weekly, monthly), when I travel I don't trust public wi-fi, or pay the cost to rent from the site, so I use tmobile - the top up I use is £15 and that lasts for a month.
may be worth a look, xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I agree with the people above suggesting some form of pay-as-you-go mobile broadband. Plusnet do indeed offer a no-contract option for 6.49 per month (up to 10Gb download) or £11.49 for up to 60Gb, however you have to pay a fee to get the no-contract option. In addition, you would have to have a phone line provided by either plusnet (no 12-month tie-in) or someone else. If pay-as-you-go mobile broadband is not a feasible option for you, and if the name of TalkTalk does not strike fear into your heart, you could try Post Office home phone (now taken over by TalkTalk) and one of the less well-known ISP providers like XILO who offer 1-month rolling contract. Hope this is of some help.0

My daughter just signed up with Virgin Media for BB only (no phone line) as it is student rent they actually do a 9 month contract version. I think there is a £50 setup fee and then £22 a month, but you get the 30mb service and a free router.
Plusnet definitely do month to month contracts but you must pay a setup fee to get this (if you cancel within 12 months on taking free setup or the free router you will be charged £50 I think)0
