Ebay tickers purchase - seller sending recorded

Seems a bit dodgy because with recorded you're only covered for up to £40 and these tickets are worth over £100.
I've advised the seller but they dont seem too bothered and seem to think if they dont turn up its not their problem.
I'm going to pay by paypal, but aren't I right in saying that if the tickets never turn up (and so I never sign for them) then paypal would refund me if the seller couldn't prove delivery?
I'm hoping the seller will see sense and post special delivery at least.

Tickets are not insured at all with recorded delivery. But yes, if the seller cannot show online delivery then they will lose any dispute.0

Simple answer - Pay by paypal. The seller will need to prove they've been delivered by an 'appropriate' service, based on value & item this should be SD.
There's a new thread on RD being incorrect for tickets, cash and the like.
Any problems open a paypal claim and you'll get a full refund

So you cant even claim £40 if the enclosed item is tickets?0 -
The sender may not seem bothered, but it is their responsibility to ensure you receive the tickets. If they don't arrive you need to open a 'not received' dispute and you will be refunded by PayPal.
If the items are uninsured, it is the seller who loses out, not you, as it's the sender who must claim against Royal Mail for missing items.
They're probably 'not bothered' because it's rare that recorded delivery items go missing and they think it can't happen to them.A man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone - Thoreau0 -

I am not sure where you get £40 from. Current first and second class compensation maximum is £46, but there are certain items which are not covered irrespective of value, tickets is one such item.0 -

Ah. £46 I meant but I see, as you say, tickets are not covered.0 -

Hmm. Maybe. In the past, Ive sold tickets and send them SD. Like you said, if it does get lost you've had it.0 -

Oh well, I've warned the seller but they seem to think its all OK if they send them recorded because they're covered.
What can I do. I guess just pay up, let them send recorded?
As long as I can 100% get a refund if they dont show. I guess paypal will ask for proof of delivery from seller? (which he wont have if they get lost).
I can see exactly what's going to happen if they do get lost. Seller is going to say its not their fault, then find they've got to claim, then find they can't, then kick off when I get a refund.

I used to worry about sellers not understanding the postage requirements, but I no longer really think about it. I did warn a few and baiscally got told I was talking rubbish (they always have a brother or husnad who works for RM so KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Lots of ifs there. If it happens, you're protected and they will learn a valuable lesson. On the other hand, the tickets may turn up just fine and everyone is happy.
