Avoid Sainsbury Breadroll Overcharge

Then again, Lidl's is within walking distance for me so I can hardly complain!
Also, the supermarket's el-cheapo edition bread rolls are quite different to the loose ones (even if these may also be available in packs). The cheap rolls are very soft and spongy with an extremely soft 'crust' - I believe these are steam baked at an off-site factory. They may be OK for some things but they are in no way a replacement for the loose rolls. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0

But if a 6p overcharge on a loose bread roll causes a financial hardship then I would argue that you can't afford to be picky over what bread roll you consume. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Who said anything about financial hardship?
You may be different, but most people seem to prefer to pay, at the most, the advertised priced for items they purchase, rather than giving the supermarket a 'tip' on each one.
If someone buys themselves a couple of rolls each working day for their lunch then the 6p per roll extra would add up to over £27 a year (assuming they worked for 46 weeks a year).
If you don't think that's a worthwhile saving, perhaps you would be happier at moneysquanderingexpert.com. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0

If a person buys 2 rolls a day using the self service till and doesn't notice that they are pressing the wrong button everytime then frankly they deserve to lose £27.
I suspect it's an error you may make once or twice. It's certainly not something I would worry about enough to get the shop assistant to void the transaction. Sainsbury's crusty rolls, 6 for 70p are exactly the same as the loose crusty rolls @ 39p each.:)Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Indeed. Never mind how many people per day do it (quite a lot I would think) and all those 6ps add up to a tidy profit for Sainsbury's. I know something of how this works being an ex Sainsbury's checkout manager so I think the OP has a pretty valid complaint. Those tills are pretty easy to use if you know what you are doing, but we're not all trained cashiers and not all eagle eyed observant every time we go through a till, so I can completely see how the mistake could be made so easily. Even being in a position to "know better" I've managed to overcharge myself at a self serve till before now. I hate the flipping things and try not to use them if I can help it. Anyway, point is, that measly 6p to you or I, adds up to a whole lot of 6ps to Sainsb... um... actually, I still have JS shares... hey, carry on overcharging yourselves folks. "So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 "So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0

I promise you, I was completely unaware that that was a real site.
I thought I had just made it up.
It just goes to show the truth* of the old saying: "There's nothing new under the sun".
