eBay Nightmare

I am having a nightmare with eBay at the minute. I sent one parcel to Paris on 04 September which still hasn't arrived but I'm more concerned about an item I sold to a UK buyer earlier this month.
I sold a bnib ornament at the beginning of the month and despite the buyer receiving it over a fortnight ago they are now claiming its damaged. The item was sent in its original packaging (sponge inside a box) and was then wrapped in bubble wrap before going in a bigger box with air pockets etc. I don't know where I stand ? I have looked at their buying history and it all looks ok but they seem to have bought the same item that they bought from myself about 6 times. I know they could be legit but I can't help feel that they are trying to rip me off as there is no way unless someone opened the parcel during transit that it could have become damaged.

How is your buyer for the 'Paris' item is he happy to wait a little, longer for delivery?
As for the second issue, was it tracked so you know for definite when it was delivered or are you working on the basis of when it was sent. I find a few of my larger items arrive later than i think purely because they sit in the sorting office waiting for a suitable time to be collected if the buyer works
I would suggest that you ask the buyer for a photo of the damage and decide from there whether to ask for item to be sent back or whether to refund without return.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The buyer in Paris has asked for a refund. Royal Mail have said the Olympics caused delays to parcels going overseas but I don't know how true that is ? I have explained to them the timescale Royal Mail advised to allow for delivery, if not then they are going to open an inr claim and I guess I'll have to try and claim compensation from Royal Mail. (this is my first lost parcel in years)
The UK item was sent recorded delivery so I can see when they signed for it which was a fortnight ago. The item was packed in its original packaging which was a sponge shell thing which went into a hard box, I then wrapped that box in bubble wrap before putting it into a much bigger box which was filled with those polystyrene shapes and airbags. I am just annoyed because I needed the sale, I reduced the buy it now price for them and I can't help but feel they aren't genuine. I have no idea what to do as I've never experienced this beforeSealed Pot Challenge Member 1273VSP 2011 Member 92 - 723.070 -
I have asked the UK buyer for pictures of the damage and asked her about the condition of the packaging which really was like fort knox due to the sturdiness of the box used, air pockets etc and they have binned the packaging, does this mean I would struggle to make a claim with Royal Mail ?Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1273VSP 2011 Member 92 - 723.070

Royal Mail do ask for the packaging for damage/missing parts claims.
I didn't send it for a missing parts claim - and they paid out though.0 -
Thanks for that. The seller has definitely binned all the packaging apart from the box and inner sponge cushion that the item was packed in at the point of purchase. I just don't know what to do, the item was perfect when I sent it and I don't know how it has suddenly become damaged ?Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1273VSP 2011 Member 92 - 723.070

Well you may or may not need the packaging, as RM don't always ask, but they do expect you to have it if they do.
However, things do become 'suddenly damaged' as an item can break in an instant. It could have happened anywhere on it's journey, despite how it left you, the buyer is saying it isn't correct now.
You will probably never know if the damage happened in transit or in the care of the buyer, but if you were the buyer, what would you like the seller to do?0 -
so the buyer has had theitem for 2 weeks and not mentioned damage? depends on item ,it glass or china then it could have received some form of damage in transit, but hard to really prove.
i would also be weary as possibly that they have brought a number of these items (as per ur search) and if they have managed to find a damaged one, they then are trying to send it to you for a full refund, in effect they are receiving a perfect condition one for free. (im very cynical though and quite negative, so probably doesnt help)
i think if ebay get involved you may be forced to refund.0 -
Have you asked them when they received the item. What for response, see what they say and then ask why they waited so long. Unfortunately as mentioned you may be made to refund, in which case ask for item back. Buyer has to pay return postage. RM will ask for the item if they consider compensating you....that's why you'll need it back0

I think maybe I am cynical but if I bought something and it arrived damaged I would contact the seller immediately rather than leave it two weeks and when I queried the delay they said they had just got round to messaging me. Prior to purchase they queried the condition of the item so I sent them extra photos which I deleted after sale to show it was in mint condition. I bought it as an investment so I kept it in its box from the day of purchase and only took it out to photograph it. The buyer has kindly informed me how much it would cost to have the item repaired. They have binned the packaging so I don't know where I would stand with Royal Mail. I'm just upset because I reduced the item for them and having seen their purchase history which shows they have a small army of the same ornament I can't help but think they damaged one of their existing ones and are trying to rip me off.Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1273VSP 2011 Member 92 - 723.070

I am obsessed but I have just gone through their buying history and they bought the same item that they purchased from myself back in July but the one they bought in July has the damage which they are claiming has happened to my item, what can I do ?Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1273VSP 2011 Member 92 - 723.070
