Men and mothers, not sure which is worst!
My mum can never keep her mouth shut, so much so that I try not to tell her anything in confidence.
I never tell her what I'm buying the kids for Christmas as she either steals the idea and buys it immediately from her or says something about it when they are around.

Thanks ladies,this thread has made me laugh and cheered me up no end. It's good to know I am not the only one suffering from OH's 'numptiness'.

Okay, this wasn't actually my dad's fault - but my sister Vicky's.

I remember one Christmas (back in the '70s!), dad bought mum some gold earrings. Vic was about 6, I was about 8.

Vicky was pleading with dad to let her give mum a clue what he'd bought her. Dad knew Vicky would give the game away (she was always rubbish with secrets) so kept saying no. In the end mum stepped in saying to just let her give her a little tiny clue (to shut her up, stop the tears and whingeing!).

Smug Vicky piped up with, 'Okay, you wear them on your ears...'.

Hmmm. Christmas that year was not the most enjoyable!
