Hello,
My IE window closed and a window came up inviting me to scan I did and it said there were 7 serious errors and did I want to buy "File Recovery" for $84.
I do not but all microsoft programmes seem to be down but I can use Chrome or Safari OK.
Do I have to spend $84 or is this a scam? Laptop is 4 years old.

As above. Don't pay anything.
After removal, get Malwarebytes free (make sure you click on the Free Download) then update it and run a full scan, which can take a few hours.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Ok folks I am now running Malewarebytes full scan in safemode.
I ran RKill and TDSS both of which came back very quickly saying no problems. I think all I need do after the above scan is to sort out the "hide" part. Am I right?
I have the paid for version of Malewarebytes by the way.0 -
