Is it ill-advised to apply online for two credit cards on the same day, within couple of minutes?
According to Noddle.co.uk, I have 8/10 chances to get either of them. One is Bank of Scotland, the other is Hallifax.
Also, as a separate matter - should I close a credit card account which is on 0 balance since a year, with 750 credit limit? Would that make my credit card better, or worse?
I only use my other card which currently is at 2200 out of 3500 GPB limit.

I would personally apply for one then wait to see how that goes unless of course you are applying for two cards at the same time because you want two cards.
However you need to factor in to these new applications salary, any missed payments in past 12-18 months, time on electoral roll that kind of thing.0 -

Strangely, I asked exactly the same two questions recently (even the £750 limit was the same!). See this thread for the responses

I decided to get one card and then wait for my credit reports to get updated before making the next application, because one of the applications is likely to see the search of the other and doesn't know if it's successful or not and could assume it's a decline or that you're desperate for credit0 -
i appled for a natwest then a nationwide the next day and got both. Much to my surprise.0

I,ve done it a few times (usually a BT card and a purchase card at same time) However not to the same group of companies ie Bank of Scotland and Halifax like you are planning.I have a deep burning indifference0
-
depends
if your a smart cookie you could apply for sygma group card which will search equifax
and you could do the nationwide which will search experian
then you end up with 1 search on each
i got a nationwide 2 weeks ago , then did a soft search on fluid and it came back a no but was a yes when i did the nationwide 2 weeks ago so im guessing that fluids criteria is looking at my full search within 1 month on experian and saying nope
my credit rating is fine but i just wanted the 1 search experianI am NOT a mortgage advisor nor a professional in any debt related matters my replies to posts reflect my personal view only and experience in life time situations that may or may not be of any use to you if you need advice speak to a professional0 -

nope it gives you what it believes is the lenders alogarithm to give you a guess
problem with the soft scoring noodle is it used call credit i'msure tesco will search experian for a card
the only 1 ive seen to be accurate is the nationwide 1 which does the soft search on experian and pretty much gives you what it qoutes
if i was you i would do the nationwide soft ,when you get to qoute if its decent like 3000 and 15.9 id close the web page down dont go for full application
id then go for tesco card apply for that full application see what happens if tesco goes through happy days , if not do the nationwide
then id leave it 2 searches is plentyI am NOT a mortgage advisor nor a professional in any debt related matters my replies to posts reflect my personal view only and experience in life time situations that may or may not be of any use to you if you need advice speak to a professional0 -
The Nationwide cc application page says it will leave a mark on my credit score IF I accept the preliminary quote. Does it mean that if I just check what I can get without accepting it, it will leave my search count intact?0
-
Yes that is correct, a soft search only unless you click to accept the quote.0
