Orange - mis sold insurance???

I upgraded my phone back in April from an iPhone 4 to a Blackberry Bold. Asked in store to remove the Orange Care (£12 a month for iPhone's, £6 a month for any other phone's) and also rang the call centre on the same day to ask them to remove it.

Just checked my latest bill and I'm still paying £12 a month for the insurance and have been for the past 5 months.

Right, I know I should have checked my bill's before that, but is there any way of getting that money back? I asked twice for it to be removed AND they have been selling me specififc insurance for an iPhone which I didn't have any more.

I've spoken to the call centre and they said to speak to the shop I upgraded in, think it's a bit of a cop out to make me give up.

Any advice or do I not have a leg to stand on???

if you rang the call centre to ask them to remove it, they should still have a recording of the call.

I would go into the shop first and have a word in there.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • the least they should do is just charge for a blackberry as you clearly dont have an iphone anymore

If you pay by direct debit you might get the money back from the bank.

But what's the bet they swear that you didn't cancel the insurance and send the debt collectors round:eek::eek:

The iPhone would STILL covered for all insured risks, so the money was not lost. As the OP noted, the responsibility to ensure the instructions were carried out remained with them, so any refund would be goodwill only. A DD refund would fail, as the services were accepted.

Now the OP has both the iPhone and the BB. I don't see anything disproving this.

    Accepted by whom and how?
  • My other half had her phone given with insurance. It took 5 months to get it off and they still now refuse to refund it! Nightmare. We discovered they ticked a tiny box on the contract she signed, its easy to miss.

The iPhone was sold as soon as the BB was up and running and I have a reciept of sale.

Orange have been back in touch after I completed the survey saying how unsatisfied I was. Hoping this will get resolved today, cheers for your input.
  • hope u get a good outcome
