trying to rip dvd to transfer to Blackberry playbook

Just bought the BP and trying to rip a dvd. Googled how to do it and downloaded Handbrake. That alone didn't work so I updated VLC and it's going but taking 5 hours! Is this right or is there a better way of doing it. My laptop use Windows XP. TIA

Personally I'd run the DVD through DVD decrypter (google it to download) to get an ISO file and then open that ISO file in Handbrake and use the Universal or Regular profiles
