Seeking an alternative to Amazon.co.uk

Hi,
I am looking for an alternative to Amazon.co.uk from where I can order DVD, Blu –Ray, games, books and other stuff presently sold by Amazon.co.uk.

The reason being that I am fed up to pay huge fees for shipment to France, when most of the stuff I ordered from Amazon.co.uk are shipped from a French Warehouse but not sold on Amazon.fr.

I am also sick and tired to received goods damaged because the packaging is not adapted to the products.

So, basically, I am looking for a web merchant based in the UK from which I can order DVD, Blu-ray, etc with no shipping fees or reasonable fees for a shipment to France.

I want also to be able to order in GBP, (so that excludes Play.com that only sell in GBP for customers with a UK address – Their conversion rates in Euro is far too expensive, plus I have no certainty that I will not receive a French version of the product I intend to order)

I want to order those from the UK because I do not want to have the box in French or have the film in French or have the film in English but with silly French subtitles that are impossible to remove.

Please could you inform which RELIABLE web merchant you can recommend.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks Johnnyreggae, but I want a proper registered merchant where I could buy a lot of stuff,

merchants on EBAY are often more expensive due to the Commission they have to pay to Ebay and Paypal

Surely, there must be alternatives to Amazon

I dont know of any, you could order things and have them sent to a frineds address who then brings them over when they visit, not a solution you were after though.
  • Have you tried HMV? As far as I am aware they do deliver abroad and my experiences with them have been positive in the past.

Er, I have hundreds of region 2 DVDs and every single one of them has a language menu which includes English. If you're living in France and can't even read the movie title in French on the box you're doing a great job assimilating lol
  • Not sure if this is what you need, but take a look www.wowhd.co.uk
They used to be called cdwow and I used them a lot until Amazon won me over.

I am not too sure what you mean. I am French, so obviously I can speak French, but I cannot stand watching a UK or US movie with silly French dubbings or subtitles + I do not like having a DVD cover with a stupid title too. Think, the "Hangover" Movie is renamed in French "Very Bad Trip", so what the Heck!!!
Also, very often, on the dvd sold in France, when you have an English track it is also accompanied by silly French subtitles that you cannot remove.
