I bought some hair clippers for £25. The last set I had lasted 6 years, and saved me around £8 per haircut. Not brilliant for you but good idea for your lad.

You thought of a spending diary ?

spending diary starts tomorrow, I thought I knew where it all went but clearly not!

£55 child related expenses is school dinners , for a five week month, again a slight overestimate (I haven't even included his swimming lessons which are only for this term)... there are so many 'bits and bobs' to pay for with kids!

even if I chopped back everything I don't think I could find around £300 per month. I don't have much left to sell as ebay kept my head above water last month...

  • Your water looks high...have you looked into a water meter? I saved over £20 per month initially and saving even more now.

water is a difficult one, I'm on rates and pay separately for the shared sceptic tank. My water rates are only £28 per month, I have a lodger so two adults showering, washing up, toilet flushing and lots of clothes washing means I'm not sure a meter would be better. The drainage/sewer costs last year were £235 per year, I've just had this years bill and it's £399!!! (which, unsurprisingly, I don't have!)

  • And before anyone else asks about my entertainment budget of £20....that equates to 1 x £5 bottle of plonk each friday (hoping it's a four week month)...or blow the lot on half a takeaway round my mates house...that's as exciting as it gets I'm afraid...and I'm clinging on to it with dear life!

I will have a look at cheaper haircuts definitely...especially as the greys are coming through and I certainly can't afford a colour too

I swear my hair only started turning when I got the first barclaycard statement :o

Your income isn't bad at all so its certainly possible to reduce your debts. Your grocery bill can certainly come down a little bit :)

    The Great Declutter Challenge - £876 :)

  • You could make that £20 on wine go for six weeks rather than 4 :D

3 bottles of plonk from asda for a tenner or cheap wine from aldi or lidl can work out at even £9 for three.

To make it go even further....you could have a go at making your own!!

    A kit i occasionally buy for £20 makes 26 - 30 bottles!!

Not as good as the real plomk I agree but needs must :D
    Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £60
