mortgae brokers and ppi

When i took out a mortgage i also took out ppi for my wife as she didnt get any sick pay from work 2 years later she was made redundant , when we phoned the insurance to try and claim we were told that it was a joint policy and we would only get a percentage of the benifit depending on how much of our income we had lost.
The policy was set up through a mortgage advisor so it is not the fault of the insurance company as they only set up what he told them to.
So if i want to claim my protection back who do i claim against as it was of no use when i needed it??????

Good solid reason for having it.when we phoned the insurance to try and claim we were told that it was a joint policy and we would only get a percentage of the benifit depending on how much of our income we had lost.
Which is normal with joint policies. The ratio tends to reflect the financial need. Often this is 50/50 but it can be any combination as long as it totals 100%The policy was set up through a mortgage advisor so it is not the fault of the insurance company as they only set up what he told them to.
What actually has been done wrong? So if i want to claim my protection back who do i claim against as it was of no use when i needed it??????
It isnt clear why you think it was no use. However, assuming this was bought after 2005, you would complain to the mortgage broker. If it is before 2005, then in most cases, the mortgage broker wont have to consider your complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). what he was supposed to set up was one policy in my wifes name only . so when she was made redundant we would of been payed the full 100% of the policy benifit in this case about £650. but with a joint policy we would only get about £2000

Can you prove you asked for a single policy that only covered your wife and that the mortgage advisor set up a joint policy; acting against your stated wishes?0 -
I have since found out that this isnt the only mistake he made he also set up my life insurance in the wrong address.
We specificly asked for a single policy because if i had been on the sick i would of been payed my full wage from work for 6 months so the policy was of no use for me and if i was made redundant i would of asked for two policys one for each of us so we could of claimed 100% of each policy0 -

isnt this the case with all ppi claims its your word against there's , we know what we asked for .
here is a question for u -: if i had gone on the sick would i ov been able to use the policy ?0 -

Little point asking here, we can only tell you the procedure for complaint.
Write to your mortgage advisor detailing your concerns. If he rejects your complaint you can then refer it to the Ombudsman.
Do be aware that if this happened pre 2005, then there is nothing you can do because it is pre-regulation.0
