Disassembling IKEA wardrobes for removal?

Hi all!
First of all, I hope this is a suitable subforum for this sort of thing.
I am moving in a week and among others have two wardrobes like this to transport: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90121762/
I posted a job on anyvan.com but so far all the quotes I got have been very high. I'm sure it would be a bit easier if the wardrobes were disassembled (also because to be completely honest I don't know how they will fit into the staircase at the new place) and here comes my question: Does anyone have any experience in dis- and reassembling IKEA furniture??? I'm afraid that even if I do manage to disassemble them, I will not be able to assemble them back. I would really appreciate any thoughts of this as I'm starting to be a bit nervous about this.
Thank you!

Our movers managed to disassemble and reassemble all of ours with no trouble. The instructions should help.

Dear OP,
We have Ikea wardrobes (PAX) and so far, they have been taken apart and put back together 3 times. The last time, they were moved across the continent to Switzerland and spent 6 weeks in transit (cold, damp) after which, they went back together fine.
If yours are large like ours, you will certainly struggle to move them as assembled pieces. Not forgetting that the back of them is often chipboard, which won't support the weight of the sides and doors when moved and tipped, so I can't see any way around dismantling them to be honest.
Good luck with your move!

We have an ikea bed that has been diassembled and reassembled a couple of times0

Do the following calculation:
Cost of Removal Firm + Time Spend Disassembling and Re-Assembling
Does that come to more than £120? If yes, check if the new owner wants them, and if they do, leave them, if they don't, smash them up and bin them.0 -
I've got a few bits of IKEA stuff and I've lost count of the number of times they've been taken apart to move them. As long as you keep hold of the instructions and the little allen key thing that comes with them then you'll be fine.0

Quite easy to assemble and disassemble IKEA furniture. If you can't face it, then offer the removal man say, £10 or so to do it for you.0 -
Those wardrobes are very light, they should have no problem lifting them and if neccessary manoeuvring them over the banisters etc to get them down or up your stairs.
You can take the doors off in a few seconds which will give them a bit more room to use the inside of the wardrobe to get around the top of the banisters.
If you take the feet off it will give them about 6cm extra space.
It would take about 10 minutes to take that wardrobe apart, it might be worth getting them to try it on your stairs as soon as they get there, if it does not fit you can take it apart and also get them to put it at the back of the van so they can try it first on your new property.0 -
The most difficult part is removing the hardboard at the back, as this is nailed in place. You can either be careful, and take forever, or just knock it out and buy a new piece of hardboard. What goes around - comes around0
