buscape, I have no idea of how many customers GG have or how many use the £10 goodybag but by introducing the cap (reduced costs) / increasing their prices to £12, they have added value per customer with very little effort.
Mind you Sky do this each year and I cant say the service is any better. HD is good but you pay additional for it.0 -
Why don't they just clamp down on tethering and leave the prices the same then?
I should imagine it would cost money to do that and that the assumption is everyone would play by the rules. Sadly, that's usually not the case; give people a chance to take advantage, and they will. In essence, GG have gone after the people who tether by capping them at 1GB.0 -

Because they will lose the 'tethering' customers.
This way they get rid of the people who take the mickey and keep the people who use the system in a sustainable manner.
Not claiming it is altruistic. They are a business after all.
If the model doesn't suit, try another company.
No contract, so no problem.0 -
Oh well...looks like 3 will be picking up a few customers with the £15 unlimited data, 300 mins & 3000 texts payg plan, ironic the 3 pound difference - bet GG didnt factor that in LOLSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

Assuming this person is talking about the PAYG plan, no you can't tether.0 -

With GG, you get 250 UK minutes, unlimited UK texts and unlimited mobile Internet for one month. Plus, you will still benefit from our free giffgaff to giffgaff calls and texts and free 0500/0800 numbers.
No idea. Maybe diamonds mistakenly believes you can tether on Three's plan?0 -

So why are they getting excited over spending £3 more with 3, for less?
With GG, you get 250 UK minutes, unlimited UK texts and unlimited mobile Internet for one month. Plus, you will still benefit from our free giffgaff to giffgaff calls and texts and free 0500/0800 numbers.
With GG; For £15 get 400 UK minutes, unlimited UK texts and unlimited mobile Internet for one month. Plus you will still benefit from our free giffgaff to giffgaff calls and texts and free 0500/0800 numbers.0 -
80% of GG's customer base use less than 1Gb a month. 3 has many more customers than GG does. GG had to come up with a sustainable solution as it was losing money because of people breaking the rules. Small minority ruining things for everyone.0
