So basically a 20% cost increase for me for the same service. Quite a leap.. What's the inflation rate? 5%?0

What has inflation to do with it? Probably people taking the mickey with the Unlimited package by tethering.0 -

The inflation rate compared to price increase make me question the motives of the increase.
I don't do the tethering.. I just need a mobile Internet on my phone. I don't carry my iPad with me.. walking with an iPad everywhere would make you look like a knob anyway. At home we use cable broadband via wifi for all the phones and iPad. Hard to justify that price increase for a few phones in the household.0 -
Bit uncertain why GG could not have stamped on tethering or forbidden it rather than having to put up prices. Not sure that GG is really competitive now, especially since we have had a couple of serious outages in the last year and there is no real customer services0

Because they won't make any extra money by only clamping down on tethering.
This gives them two opportunities to make more money, first by charging an extra £2 for unlimited data (they will be blocking tethering on this goodybag) and secondly by allowing tethering on the £10 1GB goodybag (which will last about a week if you're tethering) and charging 2p per MB over that limit or £20 per GB, (or £10 per 500Mb, £5 per 250Mb) which isn't cheap and will no doubt be a nice little earner for them.0 -
It's a 20% price hike for me.
Being able to tether means no more messing with a 3g dongle for use with my tablet which is good. However, 1gig is not that much if you were to use bbciplayer or youtube.
What amazes me is the comments I've seen on the GG forum. Its an increase in cost / and or lesser service. Many GG users have swallowed the idea they have decided the outcome (like a sort of Collective) How gullible can you get!0 -
This is more than likely a case of a small minority spoiling it for everyone else by tethering and consuming copious amounts of data.0
