    Morning everyone, happy Sunday :)

I am so jealous of all of you cooking lovely roasts today. I don't get to cook today :( Fiance is on the 5am Eurostar to Paris in the morning tomorrow for meetings all day and there's no way he could get there that early from here, so we've got a cheap hotel nearby overnight tonight. I'm going to go and stay with him as he has already been away visiting his daughter all weekend so I don't want another night on my own. There is no restaurant or room service in the hotel and we're thinking we will just pick up sandwiches or something....not very nice for Sunday dinner!

I think I may make some soup today. I thought I'd try, rather than waiting for the sad end of the week leftover veg, figuring out exactly what veg I will use during the week and putting that aside, and then making soup with the rest. It's things like, for example, a recipe that uses one leek - but it is not possible to buy one leek (on Ocado, anyway) - so the rest can go in soup.

Also going to do another couple of loads of washing and get it up to date for the week. Had a good tidy yesterday and the house is looking nice.

Our boiler went out yesterday so there was no heating or hot water in the evening...I managed to get it going but then I think I was worrying about it in the night because I didn't sleep well, and I ended up going downstairs at 4.30am (the time the water usually comes on) to stare at it and see if it was working. It was! I then managed to doze a bit more but got up at 8. Same as yesterday :( Really wanted a proper big lie in today! I know when I normally get up at 5.30, 8 is still a good lie in, but...

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday and think of me eating sad sandwiches in a hotel room later while you're tucking in to your amazing roasts! :-P

  • Good Morning everyone well I read about half of Danny's book and what a load of codswallop it was 'Jane Eyre Laid Bare' my a$$e!!! :eek:its Bronte mixed with Jackie Collins to jump on the 'mummy !!!!!!' band wagon.I don't recommend it unless you like that sort of thing. It's not even very well written:mad:Glad I didn't go out and buy it Danny can have his copy back Still it saved him wasteing a minute of his life reading it. I shall be interested when the item comes on Titmarsh's show Apparently they will be discussing the new 'genre' of mummyporn with the head of Ann Summers:eek::eek:
anyhoo I've done my bit for my DGS :D

Bit chilly today but not cold enough to put the heating on I'm just about to swish around my sitting room with the hoover and duster.then lunch will be a couple of rolls with watercress and salad bits and some nice ham and some fruit for 'afters' I have my Sunday dinner at my DDs every Sunday and we eat around 6-30-7 as a rule, I know its roast beef this week with all the trimmings as I treated her to a huge chunk of the stuff a little while ago and she cut it in half as there was enough there to freeze for two sunday meals .

I've just retyped my freezer list to see what I have in the freezer and there is more than enough to keep me going for a few weeks so no more buying 'whoopsies' for the freezer:rotfl:
My friend is coming down on Wednesday from Dartford and we will have some casserole from the freezer and veg also from the freezer and I may make an apple crumble for pud as I have ...you've guessed it apples in the freezer :):)
Right off to do some work
    have a good day everyone

  • Just spent a productive 90mins in the kitchen using up the veg in my fridge as I'm going to be away most of next week so don't want it going to waste. I've cooked up two big batches of soups - Spicy Carrot & Lentil and Celery. Made a total of 8 portions :D, one for lunch tomorrow and the rest will go in the freezer for work lunches next month. Also prepped some veg for stirfry which I will have for lunch today, and some broccoli and carrots to go with dinner. Also made some pesto pasta to take for evening snack tomorrow at college. Phew! :rotfl:.

I'd love to make a veggie roast dinner today but don't have potatoes :( and I'm not going out/spending money so having stuffed cabbage leaves (from freezer) with veg and a yorkshire.

Now cwtched in on sofa with a cuppa and magazine for half hour before starting some NVQ work.

  • Hello everyone,
Very chilly here in my little part of Yorkshire this morning. Gas fire was on for half an hour as OH was cold due to being dressed for his Sunday league football match. Winter quilt has been cleaned and is ready to be put on the bed today (This will be a problem when the working week comes around as neither of us will want to move haha)

House was cleaned yesterday :j and so only ironing to do-groans!-
Today we are not having a roast dinner, we're having tuna pasta bake instead.

Persisting down here and rather chilly. We all used our hot water bottles last night, I also had 2 tramadol, because both knees and my hands have been giving me hell for the last few days and I had the best night's sleep that I have had in a while.
We are having roast chicken and all the trimmings and I will make rice pudding for dessert, haven't had a hm one for ages and I just fancy one today, I probably won't eat mine until supper though, because I can't eat a lot because of the hiatus hernia, I fill up really quickly, I have lost 2½ stones since I have had it which is a plus.
We will probably eat at about 5pm when DD and her BF get here.
Not much that I can do craft wise while my hands are this sore, so I will watch the Avengers which arrived last week and I haven't had a chance to watch yet, we saw it at the cinema and loved it, it will be nice to watch it quietly.

Tappers ((((Hugs)))) I hope that you feel better soon x

donnygal I hope that skye is better today x

    Hello all,

Just slobbing around to-day....have done 2 washes and eaten brunch, didn't get any shopping done, so dinner will be some steak with roast potatoes and whatever veg I can find in bottom of fridge and freezer....think I haven't shopped for about 2 weeks at this stage, really need to get to it soon!

Off to Limerick ( 150k) in the morning for aunt's funeral, its at 11 so will have no problem getting home but will probably eat out on way back.

Sunny here to-day but cold so no doubt OH will need heat on at some stage...hate using oil but does make much less mess than fires.

Talk to you all on Tuesday

Had a lovely evening out at friends last night and going to some other friends tonight for tea - no cooking here! I have boiled a ham hough though for making soup tomorrow and made pasta sauce, one tub for the fridge and another for the freezer.
Today I have stripped one of the settees (note to self - never buy a fabric cream sofa again whilst DD is still in the house) That is on the line blowing away but I don't think it will be dry today. Also painted 2 walls in different bedrooms (again messy DD and make up), changed the curtains in her bedroom, I got a pair in the sale for £16 a while ago, scrubbed some patches on the carpets in bedrooms (guess who?), been to Aldos for supplies and generally done lots of little niggly jobs and put stuff away.

Managed to get some more wool for knitting slippers as christmas pressies, reduced to £1 per ball yesterday so that will keep me busy during my lunchtimes at work.

Hope you all have a restful Sunday. Take care. XX
