Just switched to EDF blue - how long does the meter reading part take?

I started a switch to EDF at the beginning of September. My online account only shows a switch for gas:eek:. I have contacted them and they assure me it is for both and they reset my account but still nothing there for electric. Also, my date for gas has been pushed back by a week - is this usual for EDF?

Ask them to confirm the switch dates. Then if it changes, you can dispute what they say has been done.

For some reason, suppliers have a habit of doing them separately. The industries are totally seperate and there is no need to use different dates so I can only assume its a "land hand & right hand" communication issue as teams only work one fuel each.

My gas was originally meant to change over on 5th Oct - this was showing on my online account but has now changed to 11th Oct - Terry, can I ask why I should dispute this with them - am I missing something here?
I got a call from EON and the guy said my electric was due to move over on 1st Oct - he had more info than EDF have sent me :rotfl:- EDF haven't asked for any of my readings yet.

In my view, there really is no value in arguing over 6 days. The difference in cost of your gas over those 6 days is going to be minimal, and possibly less than the price of the stamp you'll end up putting on even the first letter, let alone the additional letters you may need to send in such a dispute.

If its not by much, it won't be worth it. I meant if it was to your disadvantage over a longer period.

Your proposed switch date is made to the distributor. They only way it moves forward is if they messed up the registration so the distributor told them to do it again or if your current supplier upheld an objection so they had to re-register.

  • Just as an update (although I'm sure no one is interested :-) ), my transfer completed on the 5th October and I received an email confirming this and the login now has a green contract live button.

So there is a light in the tunnel then. My EDF online account is still all over the place

I'm not sure why you decided to bump this 6 week old thread.

But if you can see light at the end of the tunnel at 3.10am, it must be a train coming!
  • Lucky it was only 6 weeks because I think I googled this thread. It could have been much worse ;)

My switchover date was November the 9th. I submitted meter readings online the day before ('within five days of this date' is a bit ambiguous I think - do they mean before or after the date?). As of this morning, I'd heard nothing from them and the readings weren't showing in my account. I phoned them up. What a surprise - they didn't have the readings.
