Want to leave BT (hardly use my home phone) - any good cheap Landline alternatives?

Hi Guys,
just received my latest quartly Bill from BT. (Not happy.
)
My usual £50 quarterly bill has gone up to £70, which includes an £11 Caller Display charge and a BT Answer 1571 charge (a penalty for only making 2 calls this quarter
), plus the advanced 'hiked' line rental which is another £58ish.
I hardly ever use my landline phone and i only have a landline because of Broadband!
So basically, i'd like to tell BT where to go but need a cheap landline alternative....one that can still accomodate my 02 Broadband and one whereby i don't incur any other BT charges [for switching]. Oh,..... and where there isn't a penalty for low usage.
(I think 02 Home phone works out the same as BT Line Rental Saver....but feel free to correct me if i'm wrong).
Any advice or helpful links etc will be greatly appreciated.
Before anyone says 'Primus',.......they sound like a complete nightmare!

I was going to say Primus, however how about Bt line rental saver which works out to be 10.75 a month
cheapest o2 option for line rental is 13 pounds a month0 -
Post office although as you have o2 broadband o2 may do you a deal.0

Cheapest published O2 homephone line rental is £13.
You could get BT Line Rental Saver £129 for one year (£10.75p a month)
There’s a minimum call requirement for this product. This means you have to make at least 2 landline calls per month or 6 per quarter, depending on how often you're billed. If you don’t make these calls you’ll be charged £1.50 per month/£4.50 per quarter. The calls have to be chargeable or included with your call plan. So make two calls a month at weekends out of your inclusive minutes . If you havent got a number to ring call Speaking Clock.See Heinz idea here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/42188430#Comment_42188430
Ditch the Voicemail and Caller Display as your not using it.
To keep a better eye on things, to stop any charges building up.Switch to monthly whole bill direct. http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12737/~/what-is-a-whole-bill-direct-debit%3F0 -
Thanks Guys, was going to opt for 02 as i spotted a "12 months half price line rental" offer on Uswitch. But after trying for nearly a whole day i couldn't even get through to speak to an 02 customer services rep to try and get a good deal! (Not good right there).
Then i found out via the website you're only entitled to the half price offer if you're an 02 customer (you're not classed as an 02 customer even though you have Broadband with them) - plus there's a "one-off connection fee of £25.53 which applies to non-o2 customers".So no point going with them!
I'll see if anyone can come up with any other alternatives today, if not i'll probably phone BT tomorrow and opt for the BT Line Rental Saver. I'll just have to set myself a reminder each month to make those 6 calls.0 -
