Switch line rental to Sky, no broadband very slow

I have switched my line rental to sky to save money, and have always had sky broadband. Since switching our broadband speed has reduced massively - at best we get 3mbs and usually much slower.
Could the change of provider be to blame? I always thought line rental company did not affect speed if you kept the same bb provider, but am I wrong?

You will have been moved to Skys vioce and bb network, this may have initialised dlm which will optimise the connection over the next couple of weeks. Don't turn your router off for this period. Could you post your router line stats? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Log on to your router by clicking on this

scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on show stats or similar, post the up and down figures for speed attenuation and noise margin.

Hi, I also have had Sky BB and Home phone for the last 2 weeks. My previous BB was the free orange one but that's another story. I find my BB disconnects once or twice a day which I can't understand as it never did with my previously provider. Could there be a simple cure for this? Thanks0

Do you leave the router switched on? Have you filters on every phone socket in use.
It may be dlm in action, post your line stats. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Hi, yes the router has been left on since day 1 and every phone socket has a filter. It would apperar that its the wireless side of things thats is erratic as my OH was watching a film on Netflix via a cable connection with no interruption as I sat next to him on my ipad which lost wireless signal and its connection.0

You're currently getting 9.2 meg whereas you should be getting >20 meg on a 21db attenuation line but I suspect with sky underpowering ADSL2+ lines (to save a few pennies & bandwidth) you probably won't get > 15 meg. Anyway based on the above stats, it seems there is noise/interference on the line, hence Sky's DLM has increased your noise margin to 12 db. You need to plug your router into the test socket located behind master socket and see if the disconnections continue. if they stop, then you need to check the wiring, ADSL filters etc on your extension sockets.0 -
Thanks. Will go through these suggestions.
