Save money - resuse plugin refills

Aye, your just masking smells.
Smells are in the main caused by bacteria.
If you need to use air fresheners, I'd first look at cleaning the house.
All you see every other weeks is new marketing coming out for them, different designs
to keep people interested and going back for more. The same companies just let one product range die as they bring in a new one. they all do the same thing - cover up your own stench!0 -
hi there 1st post here, so sorry if its a bit negative... i agree with viper7 tho, if the house smells try giving it a good clean!0

Yes I'm another one who thinks air fresheners are bad news. I wouldn't want to release a potentially harmful cocktail of chemicals into my home. The fact that the plug in ones use electricity just makes it worse! Also, I'm shocked by how expensive these things are.
It's just another example of a marketing creation that we don't need. No disrespect to the OP, but I would really advise anyone looking to save money to simply stop using these things.0 -
I'm really old-fashioned and rather frugal to boot and if I want my sitting room to smell of fresh air I just open a window. To me these plug-ins are a waste of cash as not only do you have to buy the cheapy plastic holders at around a fiver a chuck you thyen have to buy the refills to go in them AND you have to plug them into your electricity to use them. Not very money saving I think .No I'll stick to opening my windows I usually open one at the back and one at the front and let the through draft of breeze freshen my rooms for nowt.0

I'd rather the smell of curry and garlic than an air freshener. I hate it when I go round to peoples houses and they have these things, the smell is horrible and they give me a headache.
Surely breathing in air freshener chemicals all the time isn't good for your health? If you feel the need to have something smelly then essential oils, lavendar etc have got to be a nicer and possibly healthier option?0 -
:T agreeing with ktpie here, if you really want a nice smell around your home all the time why not try oils, pot-pourri,, home made is so easy and cheap to do, Incense is also good and wafts thru the whole house, herbs and spices put into an old hanky tied up and popped into the vaccum cleaner work well also.
I personally do find the smell of aerosol sprays and plug ins all stink overpowering and cause allergies.
I think all of the sprays and cleaning prodicts we use these days must have something to do with an increase of people having allergies and asthma.
Just my humble opinion xxx0 -
I got one once, it must have been some very cheap offer as I don't usually buy them. It was on a little teak table. someone knocked it over and I didn't notice till the next day. It took all the varnish off the table. I prefer the open window, or pot pourri. though I do buy oust to spray in the loo.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Ive bought one before and its taken varnish off my mantlepiece!!!.
so yes, if you are using oils BEWARE they make damage furniture if split.
Best to put onto a coaster etc...0 -
I really don't think it is safe to just throw anything into these plugs, they do work on electric after all.
I found a company called Purity Fragrance and they sell a big bottle of refill liquid that smells lovely and works out much cheaper. The important thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as that every child should be given the wish to learn.
