Save money - resuse plugin refills

Don't get me wrong gingernutmeg - I'm sure that the risk is no different to that of any other plugged in appliance - but don't assume that equals no risk.0

We had one many years ago, which was plugged in near a teak coffee table. I noticed after a while that the vapours off it seemed to be eating and dissolving the varnish on it. I also noticed chronic headaches whenever I was in the room with it.
I suspected it wasn't very healthy stuff and threw it out after that.0 -
Hello,
Does anyone know if it is safe to refill plug in air fresheners (Glade)? I have a couple of the plug bits around the house but just can't afford £3+ each time for the refills!
If so what would anyone suggest? Was thinking perfume watered down or maybe even oils that you mix with water and burn with a special burner?
Many thanks

I dont use them but i do use fresh lavender that has been dried and that gives off a lovely smell. I just use the bits i have cut off my lavender plant at the end of the summer. You can burn essential oils and they give off a nice smell. You can buy t lights and a special burner but i am sure that there are ms that have cheaper ideas.0

I am not going to be popular for this comment..but here goes.
Isnt it a little crazy to try and "FRESHEN" the air by squirting chemicals into it.
Also its a plug in device, so not only is it contaminating the real fresh air, its increasing your power consumption/ carbon footprint thingie too.
I am no tree hugger, but buy a bunch of flowers or open a window..“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -
instead of using febreeze style fresheners or linen fresheners, i dilute 1 part fabric conditioner to 10 parts water in an old pump spray bottle, its certainly a lot cheaper.totally a tog!:D0

A good point, well made.
I make my own ironing water by putting a few drops of essential oil into a sprayer bottle. I have been known to fumigate the flat with this as well. Chemicals, but nice ones and the carbon footprint of a ballet dancer (to which I am not often compared). The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0
