Towel rail corroding after 10 months!

Good question. OP said design and install. OP didn't say design, supply and install. OP may have bought the elements himself but then he's between a rock and a hard place and it remains to be proven whether it was faulty material or careless workmanship. Incidentally the manufacturers response is just a bit too pat. Its almost as if they churn out this reply constantly which suggests (but doesn't prove) a constant stream of manufacturing defects. I don't remember any suggestion in the company's response that they were shovelling blame at the installer.
There is no point in leaving it like that as it will just get worse and worse. The eventual quid pro quo is probably OP procures another rad at quite a discount as offered by the manufacturer and free issues it to the installers who install it for free.
An interesting point is that the manufacturers email seems to have been addressed to the installer rather than the OP as it requests their "customers preferred course of action"
Cheers
It was designed, supplied and installed by a fairly local company who seem to have a good recommendation.
At the moment I have e-mailed them telling them after a lot of professional advice it appears to be corroding from the inside out, not outside in.0 -

may be I'm being a bit naive here but if it were corroding from the inside out wouldn't it be leaking?

Hi
I thought I would add a comment because we had a white towel rail in our old house that corroded badly (and in the exact same spot as the OP showed in the photo) even though it was in a new condition when we bought it and installed correctly. Before we put the house on the market we had a new white rail fitted to replace it. The plumber who fitted it said it was a common problem in towel rails. However a year later, just before we moved out, this second towel rail was showing signs of slight corrosion! This towel rail was around £100 from a plumbing merchant.
I'm sorry I can't give more reasons behind this happening but someone with more expertise could shed light on it I'm sure.0 -
