Claiming ppi on a satisfied dmp

  • It amazes me that some people think they can renege on their financial obligations and then get "redress" from the victims of their default.

I thought I would pop in here. Am in a similar situation in that my DMP has been satisfied but that to the best of my knowledge, there were never any early settlement discounts applied and neither did any of my creditors accept an early F&F at a lower value to the outstanding debt.

I only have one product that I put in a claim for and from what I can see on my paperwork the whole amount outstanding has been repaid - including PPI & interest that was on the original loan balance. I am just going to wait and see what happens, no expectations. I do wish I had done it 18 odd months ago as if the PPI was refunded against my outstanding debt then I would have finished my DMP 6 months earlier.

  • Thanks jtr2803' for a minute i thought i was the only one who had a dmp who is claiming ppi! The ppi was paid with the monthly payments when i originally had the loans/ credit cards so in affect it is money that i have paid, why shouldnt i try and claim it back! These other replies on here are making me out to be somekind of scrounger or something. There must be so many people trying to claim who are in the same/similar situation as me!
Maybe what they should be looking at is the companies out there that are charging people to try and claim back there ppi for them, they ring me all the time hassling me about ppi.....you'd have to be mad to use them when you can do it all yourself with a simple letter.
Anyway i will post back on here when i find out the end results of my claims.
    Thanks for your input

Maybe if they didnt try and rip people off in the first place they wouldnt have to repay all this money.

If i dont get the money back then so beit, i never tried to avoid paying my debts I just couldn't. So actually would be quite happy for the creditors to receive the money. Whatever will be will be.

I say this for everyone trying to claim ppi, do it ! You have nothing to lose.

As you can see, jtr2803 is not in the same situation as yourself, Triplets2907. It is not "money you have paid" you are trying to claim, but the opposite.
Just to reiterate, only money written off as part of a DMP or IVA can be offset by the lender against PPI redress.

Please don't dismiss the opinions of others on the forum who agree that you shouldn't be able to "double dip" monies that you escaped paying in the first place. No one is judging you for getting into financial difficulty, but you have already taken advantage of the safety net of financial help available to those in that position.

That doesn't make you a "scrounger", just sadly misinformed.

You really aren't entitled to any more.
