Please can I join too? Long time reader but new at posting
I'm about to move to a new city and start a new job, so it seems like a good point for a fresh start with my grocery budget!
Please could you put me down for £80 for Oct 1st -31st. This is just for me but includes toiletries and the odd bottle of wine. I'm also starting totally from scratch with no storecupboard!GC Oct: £71.22/£80 = £8.78 left0 -

The replies at the bottom have some great ideas. I too think £200 is alot of money, when you don't have any......0 -
We have had some massive bills come in over the last month and its put us into our overdraft BIG time so the only way to try and get some money back is to cut down our grocery budget.
Our budget is for 5 of us (1 still in nappies full time). Myself and the children love most fruits and we try to eat veg every day (usually frozen).
Our friends have been raving about Aldis and I just wondered if its as good as people say (money and good produce wise). The thing is we buy a lot of basic/value/smart price items so I didnt think Aldis would be a good saving on these? Going to try their clothes washing gel and their nappies to begin with (as well as their fruit & veg).
We also have a big market nearby and a farm shop but both of these can be hit and miss (have gotten home after buying fruit from the market before and it being on the turn already so not at all money saving).
I have just sat and made a meal plan up until the end of October for just our dinners. I am also going to write a list of foods to make on a Sunday for lunchboxes (usually I make fairy cakes). Its usually only me and the youngest at home for lunch so I plan on making and freezing some different soups to have with HM bread and DS can have a sandwich (he isnt a big eater anyway).
I have a few recipes from the Hairy Bikers to try out this coming month too so that should make a nice change. I work twice a week so the in laws feed DH and the kids then on the other night I work DH and the kids have a simple dinner and I usually have a bowl of cereal when I get home.
Hopefully we can start saving some money on the GC and getting ourselves out of the overdraft! (Just in time for the car tax due in November lol).
Thanks to everyone who makes the GC possible and for everyone who contributes and helps us out2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.

I've not finished September but it looks like I'll be coming in way under-budget - which is testament to this/last months thread and to the focus it has brought me!
Please put £200 down for my October budget- I have an extra mouth to feed for half of October, two weekends with two extra mouths and a Costco shop to do... so I don't want to challenge myself too much!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
