Hi guys.
Not been on for a wee while. Shopping habits now returned to normal so here I am.
Went whoopsie shopping tonight instead of APGing.
Enjoyed it.
Went on way back from picking up my eldest.
Fridge full of decent veg again
Mince, onions and gravy tomorrow with loads of nice veggies like cabbage and leek etc. We had sticky ribs tonight which the sprogs lived
Lots of new names on the thread so  to you all:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
Grocery Spend Weekly Challenge (Sat-Fri):£30.50/£400 -
Two days so far and a £160 big shop on day 1 and £15ish on day 2. On the plus side I can count at least 21 big meals from ingredients in the freezer, fridge and store cupboard ( minus fresh veg) plus three or four more if I'm inventive with the lentils and beans I know I have but can't be bothered to cook with. Far from smug though as there's a big family dinner I've not yet shopped forJanuary GC 299/300
February GC 295/270
March GC 92/243 then lost the plot and stopped recording for two months and went way over
May GC 372/250 still looking for the plot
June GC 118/2500 -

. I didn't want to buy any otherwise I'll spend too much this week so managed to cobble together spaghetti carbonara - MIL had given us some ham and I had eggs, cheese and used milk instead of cream. Was OK despite this although eldest DS did say he prefers the cream version. .
In case this happens to you again, one of my favourite (very cheap) recipes is bolognese made with sausages instead of mince - just remove the skins and break them up. Recipe books say to use good quality sausages, but cheap ones will do too, and I know I always have some sausages somewhere in the freezer. Plus 2 sausages can serve up to 3 if you use a lot of veg (like I do). I think it works out about 50p/portion depending on what brand level you buy.0 -
Another mini spend here - went out for dinner + cinema with a friend, spent £10.35 each in Nandos (shared a wing platter) and then went to Waitrose for munchies + drinks rather than forking out in the cinema, total spend in there was £4.36

pearla thanks for that, there was a programme on about supermarket value brands and they found in a lot of cases that they were healthier, as they contained less sugar, salt etc. the mince is fattier, but i brown it off, and then put it through a collander with boiling water, then back to the pan for flavouring.
SheWhoCannot only typhoo for me - or tetley extra strong.
NickNack Nicky toilets rolls are the best in my opinion, but only the 3ply. Unfortunately, we dont have home bargains in London.

Re value tea bags, I've heard the sainsbobs cheapy ones (less than 30p I think) are very good. I seem to have a hundred boxes of others though, so haven't tried them yet...
